Q1. Explain the different types of surveys to select highway alignment locations. Calculate the
road length required to connect two points at elevation difference of 1000m if 8.33% of
gradient is to be maintained for first half length of the road and 6.67% to be maintained for
second half length.
Q2. The consolidated data collected from speed and delay studies by floating car method on a
stretch of urban road of length 4.0 km, are given in Table 1. Determine the average values of
(i) volume (ii) journey speed and (iii) running speed of the traffic stream along each direction.
