A. Background Information for Learners
This lesson will give you understanding about The Use of Water from Different Sources in the Context of Daily
Activities. It involves activities which can help you master the required competency.

B. Exercises/Activities
Water comes from different sources. It may come from open or closed sources. It may also come from a small
body of water or a big body of water. Rainwater comes from clouds.
There are three main sources of water. The kind of water depends on its source. The three different kinds of
water are seawater, freshwater, and groundwater.

1. Seawater is salty. It has a large amount of salt. It is found in the seas and oceans. Seawater can be classified as
hard water.
2. Freshwater. Some portion of earth’s freshwater comes from surface water. This is found in open but small bodies of
water like waterfalls, rivers, lakes, creeks, and ponds. Surface water comes mostly from rain. Rainwater flows from
land into streams and rivers. In cold countries, it also comes from snow. Great quantities of snow accumulate on
highlands and mountains during winter. In spring, the snow melts and runs off into surface water.
3. Groundwater is found beneath the earth’s surface. It comes from water that seeps into the ground. These
accumulate in the underground layer called water table. Groundwater is the safe source of water. It is considered the
cleanest water and contains plenty of dissolved minerals which the human body needs. Springs are openings of the
groundwater directly to the earth’s surface.

Ang araling ito ay tungkol sa Pagkamamayang Pilipino. Nakapaloob dito ang mga gawain na makakatulong
sa iyo para maunawaan mo ng lubos ang kinakailangang kasanayan.

B. Mga Gawain
Ang Mamamayang PIlipino
Ang pagkamamamayan ay nangangahulugan ng pagiging kasapi o miyembro ng isang bansa ayon sa
itinatakda ng batas. Hindi lahat ng naninirahan sa isang bansa ay mamamayan nito. Dahil may mga dayuhang
nakatira dito na maaaring hindi kasapi nito. Madalas na ang pagkamamamayan ng isang tao ay naihahalintulad sa
kaniyang nasyonalidad. Marami ang nag-aakala na ang dalawang salita ay magkasingkahulugan. Iba ang
pagkakamamamayan ng isang tao sa kaniyang nasyonalidad.
Ang isang taong ipinanganak sa Pilipinas ay nagtataglay ng Pilipinong nasyonalidad at walang maaaring
makapagbago noon. Ngunit maari naman siyang magkaroon ng ibang pagkakamamamayan sa bansa ayon sa batas
ng naturalisasyon. Samakatuwid ang nasyonalidad ng isang tao ay hindi napapalitan. Ang tanging nababago ay ang
pagkakamamamayan.
Ayon sa Artikulo IV, Seksiyon 1 ng Saligang Batas ng 1987, maituturing na mamamayang Pilipino ang
sumusunod:
1. Mamamayan ng Pilipinas nang pinagtibay ang Saligang Batas ng 1987 noong Pebrero 2, 1987
2. Ang ama o ina ay mamamayang Pilipino
3. Mga mamamayang isinilang bago sumapit ang Enero 17, 1973 sa mga inang Pilipino na pinili ang
pagkamamamayang Pilipino pagsapit ng 21 taong gulang
4. Mga dayuhang nagpasiyang maging mamamayang Pilipino ayon sa batas ng naturalisasyon
Ayon din sa Seksiyon 4 ng Saligang Batas ng 1987, ang isang mamamayan ng Pilipinas na nakapag-asawa
ng isang dayuhan ay mananatiling isang Pilipino maliban na lamang kung pinili niyang sundin ang
pagkamamamayan ng kaniyang napangasawa.
Batay naman sa Republic Act 9225 na nilagdaan ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo noong Setyembre 17, 2003,
ang mga dating mamamayang Pilipino na naging mamamayan ng ibang bansa sa pamamagitan ng naturalisasyon ay
maaaring muling maging mamamayang Pilipino. Siya ay magkakaroon ng dalawang pagkamamamayan (dual
citizenship). Kailangan lamang na aplayan niya ito at patunayan sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang sertipiko ng
kapanganakan mula sa Philippine Statistics Authority (National Statistics Office) na ang kaniyang mga magulang
o isa man sa kanila ay mamamayang Pilipino saan man siya ipinanganak.

Paraan sa Pagkakamit ng Pagkamamamayan


May dalawang kinikilalang pangkahalahatang paraan sa pagkamit ng pagkamamamayang una sa pamamagitan ng
kapanganakan at ikalawa ay sa pamamagitan ng naturalisasyon.

Pagkamamamayan sa Pamamagitan ng Kapanganakan


Sa pamamagitan ng kapanganakan, ang isang bata ay nagkakaroon ng tiyak na pagkamamamayan sa ilalim ng
dalawang prinsipyo ang Jus sanguinis at Jus soli.
Jus sanguinis ang pagkamamamayan kung naaayon sa dugo o pagkamamamayan ng mga magulang o isa man sa
kanila. Sinusunod ng mga anak ang pagkamamamayan ng kanilang mga magulang saan mang bansa sila
ipinanganak. Ito ang prinsipyong sinusunod ng Pilipinas dahil ito ay nakasaad sa Konstitusyon ng 1987.
Ang pagkamamamayang Jus soli itinatadhana ng prinsipyong ito ang pagkamamamayan ng isang bata ay naaayon
sa bansa kung saan siya ipinanganak kahit pa iba ang pagkamamamayan ng kaniyang mga magulang. Dahil dito, ang
isang bata na ipinanganak sa Amerika ngunit kapwa Pilipino ang mga magulang ay magiging mamamayan ng
Amerika dahil ito ang nakasaad sa Konstitusyon ng Amerika.

Uri ng Mamamayang Pilipino


May dalawang uri ng mamamayang Pilipino. Ito ay ang likas o katutubo at naturalisado.
Likas o Katutubong Mamamayan. Ang likas na mamamayan ay anak ng isang Pilipino. Maaaring isa lamang sa
kaniyang mga magulang o pareho ang Pilipino.
Naturalisadong Mamamayan. Ang naturalisadong Pilipino ay mga dating dayuhan na naging mamamayang Pilipino
dahil sa proseso ng naturalisasyon.Ayon sa Commonwealth Act No. 475, ang isang dayuhan ay maaaring maging
mamamayang Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng naturalisasyon.
Ang naturalisasyon ay isang legal na paraan kung saan ang isang dayuhan na nais maging mamamayan ng
isang bansa ay sasailalim sa isang proseso sa korte o hukuman. Kapag nabigyan na pagkamamamayang Pilipino ang
isang dayuhan, kailangan niyang sumunod sa mga batas at kultura ng bansa. Matatamasa rin niya ang mga
karapatan ng isang mamamayang Pilipino maliban sa mahalal siya sa matataas na posisyon sa pamahalaan ng
bansa. Ang pagbibigay ng pagkamamamayan ay isang pribilehiyong ipinagkakaloob ng ating bansa sa isang dayuhan
kaya masusi itong pinag-aaralan ng korte bago igawad.

Pagkawala ng Pagkamamamayang Pilipino


Ang pagkamamamayang Pilipino ay maaaring mawala, kusang-loob man ito o sapilitan. Ayon sa ating batas,
maaaring mawala ang pagkamamamayan sa pamamagitan ng mga ito:
1.Naging naturalisadong mamamayan siya ng ibang bansa.
2.Naglingkod siya sa sandatahang lakas ng ibang bansa.
3.Sumumpa siya ng katapatan sa Saligang Batas ng ibang bansa pagsapit niya ng 21 taong gulang.
4.Nagpawalang-bisa siya ng naturalisadong pagkama- mamayang Pilipino
5.Napatunayan siyang tumakas sa hukbong sandatahan ng ating bansa at kumampi sa kaaway sa panahon ng
digmaan
6.Itinakwil niya ang kaniyang pagkamamamayan at nag-angkin ng pagkamamamayan ng ibang bansa (expatriation)

Muling Pagkakamit ng Pagkamamamayang Pilipino


Ang isang Pilipino na nagdesisyong maging naturalisadong mamamayan ng ibang bansa ay maaaring maging Pilipino
muli sa pamamagitan ng sumusunod na mga paraan:
1.Muling naturalisasyon
2.Aksiyon ng Kongreso
3.Pagbabalik sa Pilipinas at muling pagsumpa ng katapatan sa Republika ng Pilipinas
4. Pagpapatawad sa hatol ng hukuman sa isang tumakas na miyembro ng Sandatahang Lakas
Ang mga malalaking pangkat ng etniko tulad ng mga Tagalog, Ilokano, Bikolano, Kapampangan, Cebuano, Ilonggo at
Waray kasama ang mga maliliit na pangkat etniko na matatagpuan sa ibat-ibang panig ng bansa ay pawang mga
lehitimong mamamayan ng Pilipinas.

Gawain sa Pagkatuto Bilang 1: Iguhit ang bandila kung ang pahayag ay nagsasaad ng pagka Pilipino ayon sa
isinasaad ng Saligang Batas ng 1987 at araw kung hindi.

Ang araling ito ay tungkol sa mga Tungkulin ng Isang Mamamayang Pilipino programa ng pamahalaan tungkol sa
pangkapayapaan at pang-ekonomiya. Nakapaloob dito ang mga gawain na makakatulong sa iyo para maunawaan mo
ng lubos ang kinakailangang kasanayan.

B. Mga Gawain
Ang Kahulugan ng Tungkulin

Maraming paglilingkod ang ginagawa ng pamahalaan para sa mga mamamayan nito. Sinisikap nitong
matugunan ang ating mga pangangailangan. Sa kabilang banda, may mga tungkulin ang bawat mamamayan na
dapat gampanan kapalit ng karapatang itinadhana ng batas para sa kaniya.

Ang tungkulin ay mga gampanin o responsibilidad na dapat isagawa o magampanan bilang mamamayang
Pilipino. Kabilang sa ating mga tungkulin ang pagmamahal sa bayan tulad halimbawa ng pagtangkilik ng sarili
produkto, pagpapayaman ng ating kultura at pagpapanatili ng ating mga tradisyon at pagkakakilanlan bilang Pilipino.
Ang pagtatanggol sa bansa laban sa mga nais magsamantala at maaring magdulot ng panganib sa ating
pambansang kapayapaan at kasarinlan ay isa rin sa mga tungkulin natin bilang mamamayan ng Pilipinas. Isa pa sa
ating tungkulin ay ang paggalang sa watawat. Ang watawat ay isa sa mga sagisag ng ating bansa, kung kaya’t
tungkulin natin na ipakita ang paggalang dito sa lahat ng pagkakataon. Tungkulin din natin ang igalang sa batas at
sumunod sa may kapangyarihan. Tayo ay dapat sumusunod sa batas na ipinatutupad sa ating lipunanan nang
sagayon ay di natin maabuso ang ating karapatan at kalayaan na maaring makasama sa ating kapwa. Kung wala ang
mga alagad ng batas, maaring mawala ang kapanatagan at kapayapaan ng pamayanan. Tungkulin natin na tulungan
sila sa pagsasakatuparan ng batas. Ipagbigay-alam natin sa kinauukulan ang mga pulis at iba pang lingkod-bayan na
lumalabag sa batas.
Ang paggalang sa karapatan ng iba ay mahalagang gampanin din ng bawat isa sa atin. Hindi tamang
abusihin ang karapatan at kalayaan natin, mahalagang igalang din natin ang karapatan at kalayaan ng iba. Ang
pagtulong sa nangangailangan ay isang tungkuling panlipunan at pansibiko nang ayon sa abot ng ating kakayahan.
Ang makatarungang paggamit ng karapatan tulad ng pagtigil kung kinakailangan sa paghahanapbuhay na
nakapipinsala sa iba ay tungkulin din natin na dapat laging tuparin Hindi din natin maaaring tirhan ang pag-aari ng iba
ng walang pahintulot sa may-ari o pamahalaan at hindi din natin pwedeng pilitin ang ating kapwa-tao na sumanib sa
isang relihiyon o samahang kinabibilangan natin kung ito ay labag sa kanilang kagustuhan. Tungkulin din natin ang
maayos na paggamit ng mga ari-ariang pampubliko. Ang mga gamit pampubliko gaya ng paaralan, parke o
liwasan ay tungkulin nating ingatan at alagaan para magamit ng mga mamamayan sa hinaharap.
Mahalaga din makipagtulungan tayo sa pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng pakikiisa sa mga ipinatutupad
nitong programa at patakaran. Ang maagap na pagbabayad ng buwis ay isang pang mahalagang tungkulin natin.
Ang buwis na ibinabayad ng bawat isa sa atin na may hanapbuhay at may ari-arian sa bansa ay ginugugol ng
pamahalaan para sa mga proyektong nagtataguyod sa kapakanan natin. Kung nagbabayad tayo ng tamang buwis at
maagap sa itinakdang panahon ng pagbabayad, natitiyak natin ang tuloy tuloy na pagpaparating sa mga mamamayan
ng kailangang serbisyo at paglilingkod. Ang matapat na paglilingkod ng mga manggagawang pampubliko at
pampribado ay tungkulin din ng bawat Pilipino. Maipapakita ito sa pamamagitan ng pagpasok sa takdang oras,
pagkakaroon ng mabuting saloobin sa paggawa at pakikipagkapwa at pakikisama sa mabubuting gawain.
Malaki din ang ating pananagutan sa pangangalaga sa mga likas na yaman gaya ng dagat, bundok, ilog at
ang pangunahing sangkap ng kalikasan na nagbibigay buhay at lakas sa tao, hayop at halaman. Kasabay ng
pangangalaga sa ating kalikasan ay ang pagpapaunlad sa sarili upang maging kapaki-pakinabang tayo sa bansa.
Mahalagang tayo ay maging yaman ng bansa kung kaya’t kailangan nating mag-aral nang mabuti, kumain nang
sapat, at magpahinga sa takdang oras. Ibahagi natin sa iba ang ating kaalaman, kasanayan, at talino.

Gawain sa Pagkatuto Bilang 1: Panuto: Basahin nag bawat pangungusap at tukuyin kung ito ay tungkulin ng isang

This lesson will give you understanding about Giving Conclusions to Realistic Fiction. It involves activities
which can help you master the required competency.
B. Exercises/Activities
A conclusion is a statement a reader makes after reading a passage in the story.
To draw a conclusion, one can use the story clues (what you read in the text) and your own experience
(what you already know) to figure out things that were not fully explained in a story. The selection or story does not
really say the answers to the questions, but you can conclude the answers from what you read.
For us to remember, we can use the addition sentence:

What do you think will happen if:
a. it wouldn’t rain for several days
b. you will not study diligently
Were you able to answer the questions? If yes, then, you just gave a conclusion. Let us analyze using the examples
below.
• If it wouldn’t rain for several days, plants will die. (Based on the given clue, on the first part of the sentence, one can
conclude that if it didn’t rain for several days, plants will die.)

A. If you see an empty plate of cookies and then you see a toddler with crumbs on his face, you can give a conclusion
that he ate the cookies even though you did not see him do it.
In the text, first you have to read the passage because that’s where the clues are. Next, you have to search for clues
like the crumbs on the toddler’s face or what you can directly see or in the case of a text, what the author directly tells
you. Lastly, using logic, reasoning and prior knowledge, you can already give or draw a conclusion.
A. Lyle was excited as she looked outside her window. Dark clouds had blocked out the sun. A strong wind was
blowing through the trees. She heard thunder off in the distance.

Now, let’s look at the clues or what the author directly told us.

-Now, what is about to happen when there are dark clouds, a strong wind and a thunder?
Answer: A storm or heavy rain is about to happen.
-We know that, from prior knowledge even though the passage did not mention the storm or even rain.
