Due to the unique nature of tank and vessel ~,

$pedal procedures, induding scaffolding for tank aoo vessel

erection and maintenance. have been developed. For
example, as opposed to more conventiooal ~s. tank
scaffolds must have highly portable Iow-density ocaJpency by
wor1ters. The following guideline has been developed by
members of STI/SPFA to rafted ~stry practice. This

guideline provides a method to establish minimum safe

training of employees in the hazards of Tank Buikters Scaffold.
Each employer has the responsibility to follow the OSHA
gukjelines under 29 CFR. 1926.450 through 1926.454 81d as
listed in Appendx A, in establishing the proper use of scaffclds
and elevated wor1t locations for their employees.
