State 1 issue or concern that your chosen city is currently experiencing then
provide a brief background of the problem (you may cite an article or personal
experience).
San Fernando being the capital of Pampanga only means one thing, it attracts a
significant influx of tourists and migrants, leading to severe traffic congestion.
According to a survey conducted by CPOSCO, approximately 7,000 vehicles navigate
the JASA route daily. Despite resembling EDSA in photographs, these traffic woes are
actually situated in San Fernando, particularly along the route to SM Pampanga and
the bustling business district in Barangay Dolores. Mayor Caluag has acknowledged the
issue and assured the public that short-term solutions, such as route adjustments and
limitations on truck traffic, are being devised. Additionally, CPOSCO has recommended
to the DPWH the implementation of vertical clearances at the entry points of the two
steel flyovers to alleviate congestion further. To foster sustainable development, Mayor
Caluag's administration is also considering the integration of eco-friendly
transportation options and the promotion of alternative routes for commuters.
