Financial Analysis Project

The term project will require each team to read and analyze the given financial statements covering at least
the following:
Industry/ Sector Study
✓ Competitive analysis
✓ Any recent news on sector or company
✓ Govt. and tax policies applicable on company
✓ Company’s shareholding structure, corporate governance and management
✓ Comments on Auditor and Directors reports
✓ Detailed vertical analysis & explanation of trends
✓ Detailed horizontal analysis of last 3 years’ statements & explanation of trends
✓ Ratio analysis with an explanation of each
✓ Explanation/ justification of important notes
✓ Any other information/ analysis/ explanation that you may find useful to add to the report

Important Points
The following points need to be kept in mind while working on the project:
• Plz make sure you have done the analysis yourself on MS Excel; copied working and analyses will result
in disqualification and an F grade in the project
• Financial analysis has to be done upto last available annual or periodic financial statements
• Focus of analysis will be on Income Statement, Balance Sheet & Cash Flow Statement
• Make sure that the entire report has to be written yourself and any plagiarism will result in an ‘F’ grade
in the subject
• The excel sheet carrying all working and copies of financial statements have to be submitted alongwith
the report
• Make sure your analysis included at least last 2 available annual reports alongwith the latest
available periodic report. In case periodic report is not available, analysis should include last 3 annual
reports.

Submission
The Project will comprise of:
1. A detailed excel calculation sheet covering all numbers and calculations
2. A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation
(50% pres + 50% Excel working sheet).

Remember that this is an FSA project so at least 60% of the content has to be linked to financial statements of
the allotted company.
