Leveling on a Longitudinal Scale (50m length)
1. Select the level to be set up at the assumed Benchmark 100m (BM 100M)
peg point at CH 0m.
2. Make a temporary modification to the level after setting it up.
3. Take the reading with the staff at the benchmark. This is a back sight reading.
4. Make a note of the reading in the supplied form.
5. Place a 5m spacing between the first staff and ranging poles.
6. Take the second staff's reading and mark it as the intermediate sight.
7. Place the third staff position at a distance of 5m from the second staff. The
reading on the field sheet should be considered intermediate sight.
8. Steps 5–7 should be repeated until the staff can no longer be read. The staff's
most recent reading before the level is changed is recorded in the column as
foresight. The staff in charge of foresight. The level must not move until the
(becoming) back sight (after moving the level) reading is taken (before moving
the level).
9. Make a temporary modification by moving the level to a new suitable point.
10. Perform a back sight reading.
11. Steps 5 to 10 should be repeated until the job is finished.
12. Calculate all of the staff positions' rise and fall, as well as their reduced level.
13. Draw the road's longitudinal profile. Plot a Longitudinal Cross Section for
Road making on GRAPH PAPER.
