1. PURPOSE:

The purpose of this method is to ensure that all works regarding Thermal Scanning of
B/E Aerospace Electrical System shall be done in accordance with the client approved
procedure and safety standards.

2. SCOPE OF WORK:

The scope covers the steps to be followed for the Thermal Scanning of B/E Aerospace
Electrical System located in First Philippine Industrial Park, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. This
procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that the thermal scanning activity shall
conform to the contract documents and applicable standards.

3. RESPONSIBLE PERSONNEL ON SITE:

3.1. Project Supervisor:

The project supervisor is responsible to plan and schedule activities for the thermal
scanning in coordination with B/E Aerospace team. The project supervisor is also responsible
in monitoring and supervision of the thermal scanning activities.

3.2. Thermographer:
The thermographer is responsible for conducting the thermal scanning using the themal
imaging camera based on the approved standards and methodology plan of work in
coordination with project supervisor.

3.3. Site Technicians:

The site technicians is responsible in assisting the electrical site engineer in opening
and closing of electrical panels prior to thermal scanning

3.5. Safety Officer:

The safety officer is responsible for implementing of safety policy, regulation and
provide documentation like ‘’Permit to Work”. He will ensure that all control measures and
precaution are completed.
4. METHOD OF PREPARATION:

4.1 The Project Supervisor shall plan and make schedule for the thermal scanning activities
in coordination with the schedule of B/E Aerospace.

4.2 All personnel of shall complete first the safety orientation of B/E Aerospace prior
commencement of thermal scanning activities.

4.3 Project Supervisor shall understand the electrical system configuration of B/E
Aerospace.

4.4 The work permit shall be prepared by Safety officer and should have approved by B/E
Aerospace safety personnel based on the schedule and area of work prior to start the activity.

5. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

5.1 All personnel involved in the activities shall wear complete Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) in accordance with the Safe work requirements.

5.1.1 Hard Hat

5.1.2 Safety Shoes
5.1.3 Visibility Vest
5.1.4 Safety Googles

5.2 Conducts Toolbox meeting before starting the work.

5.3 Restrict personnel and equipment entering the work area.

5.4 Check and inspect tools equipment before use, damaged tools and equipment should
be out on site.

5.5 The Safety officer shall verify that approved Work Permit are in possession before
commencing the job.

6. PROCEDURE FOR THERMAL SCANNING:

6.1 Thermal Scanning shall be conducted in the highlighted in the attached Single Line
Diagram in item no. 11.

6.2 Panel to be thermal scanned shall be energized and under adequate load; ideally this
is normal operating load.

6.3 Electrical Panels need to be in local control position if remote control is applicable. This
is to make sure that person on site can immediately shutdown the power if accident
occurs during the thermal scanning activities.

6.4 Subject panel shall be externally examined before opening or removing any protective
covers to determine the possible presence of unsafe conditions. If unusual heating or
dangerous conditions exists, a qualified assistant must take suitable corrective steps
before starting the thermal scanning.

6.4.1 The project supervisor and safety officer shall inform the B/E Aerospace
personnel regarding the possible presence of unsafe conditions.

6.4.2 The electrical team and safety officer of Aerospace should assess the
condition and decide if thermal scanning will proceed or not on the subject panel.

6.5 Electrical panel enclosures shall be opened to provide line-of-sight access to

components contained therein. In some cases, further disassembly may be required to
allow for a complete infrared testing.

6.5.1 Before removing the cover, the technician shall make sure there is standby
personnel from B/E Aerospace on the breaker that will immediately shutdown the
power on the subject panel incase accident occur.
6.5.2 The technicians will remove the cover to expose the electrical components to
be thermal scanned. This should be closely supervised by the supervisor and
safety officer
6.5.3 During removal of cover the team should be ready for any untoward incident
may occur like arc flash and accidental contact with electrical parts.
6.5.4 In case of accident, the breaker shall be immediately shutdown to isolate the
power in the subject panel.

6.6 Thermal image should be taken to make sure that the subject panel can be sufficiently
and fully imaged.

6.6.1 The thermographer must take maximum effort to make sure the precision of
non-contact temperature readings. The thermographer should position himself in a
minimum 1-meter distance from the subject panel.
6.6.2 Thermal reading shall be conducted 2-3 times for every point for comparison.
6.6.3 During thermal reading, the team should be ready for any untoward incident
may occur like arc flash and accidental contact with electrical parts.
6.6.4 In case of accident the breaker shall be immediately shutdown to isolate the
power in the subject panel.

6.7 After thermal imaging was conducted on the subject panel, the technician should
return the cover.

6.7.1 During returning of cover, the team should be ready for any untoward incident
may occur like arc flash and accidental contact with electrical parts
6.7.2 In case of accident the breaker shall be immediately shutdown to isolate the
power in the subject panel.
6.8 Electrical panel enclosures shall be closed before proceeding on the next subject
panel.

7. Tools and Equipment:

The following tools will be used for Thermal Scanning:

1. Fluke Ti-400 9Hz Thermal Imaging Camera

2. Wrench and sockets
3. Screw Drivers
