AFTER A COLONOSCOPY
‫بعد عملية المنظار‬

If you had a colonoscopy, you may feel bloated after the procedure because of air that was
‫بعد اجراء المظار سوف تشعر باالنتفاخ وذلك بسبب الهواء‬
introduced during the examination. You also may have small amounts of red blood with your stool or on
toilet paper. This is normal.

After a colonoscopy, watch carefully for the following symptoms:

Call Us Immediately If…
‫اتصل على وحدة المناظير اذا‬
• you have a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher or a fever with chills, or night sweats
‫ تعرق ليال‬. ‫ قشعريرة‬, ‫ رجفة‬, 38 ‫ ارتفاع درجة الحرارة‬.
• you have nausea or vomiting
‫استفراغ‬
• you have rectal bleeding of more than a few spots of blood on toilet tissue or in a bowel movement
‫نزيف لم يتوقف‬
• any unusual pain or problems
‫االم مستمرة‬
If you had polyps removed:
‫اذا خضعت الزالة اورام حميدة‬
For 7 days after your procedure:
‫ ايام بعد العملية‬7 ‫لمدة‬

 Do not take aspirin.

 Do not go on long car rides

DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS

You may resume all your medications unless otherwise specified on your discharge.
‫ مالم يكن هناك حاله خاصة سيخبرك بها الطبيب‬. ‫ سوف تعود الخذ ادويتك بشكل طبيعي‬.
Generally during your procedure, you will be receiving sedation medications to keep
comfortable. They will remain in your system for 24 hours. You may experience drowsiness and

sleepiness. For that reason, after your procedure, and until tomorrow:

● Do not drive a car or operate any heavy machinery.

● Do not sign contracts or legal documents.
‫ال توقع على اوراق‬
● Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours.

● Rest at home for the day.

● Resume your regular diet. Start with a small light meal and advance as tolerated.

 ENDOSCOPY UNIT

The Endoscopy Unit nurses are available from Saturday to Thursday (0900H to
1200H) and (1630H to 2130H).
Contact the CALL CENTER HOTLINE 011-2600000 and they will transfer your call to
us and one Endoscopy Nurse are available for advice.

Outside these hours and for up to 7 days after discharge, you can contact the THE
CALL CENTER HOTLINE
011-2600000 and they will transfer you call to EMERGENCY department to phone and
contacted your primary Doctor.

 IN AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE ATTEND NEAREST EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT.

YOU MUST BRING YOUR ENDOSCOPY REPORT BACK WITH YOU TO SHOW TO
THE DOCTOR/NURSE.
