Does living in a technologically advanced society have a positive or negative effect on

humanity?

It is often claimed that because of our high-tech society, nowadays we live in much more better
conditions than some centuries ago. In spite of this, there are also people who believe that being as
surrounded of technology as we are, is harmful for mankind. So, does living in a technologically
advanced society have a positive or negative effect on humanity?

On the one hand, it is a true fact that currently we live longer than people did in the nineteenth
century, and that we know how to cure most diseases. In addition, we have a more comfortable life
in which we are used to have leisure time and not to do hard physical work.

On the other, there are some diseases, such as cancer, that are becoming more and more common,
and it is being increasingly accepted that this phenomenon is due to electromagnetic radiation and
other factors caused by technology.

To sum up, I would like to say that, in my opinion, living in a technologically advanced society has
a positive effect on humanity, because now we live longer and in better conditions than before we
lived in a technologically advanced society. However, there are some issues produced by this
technology that we should try to fix throughout the following years so as to improve even more our
quality of life.
