Introduction to Business

Business refers to the activity of generating income or profit via the production, purchase, and

sale of goods or services. Business may be categorized as either commercial or industrial. For-

profit businesses engage in business activities with the primary objective of generating profit,

while nonprofit corporations do so with the primary objective of fulfilling a charity goal. Petty's

hotel is situated in the Kilimani district, namely along woodly Road, Wood Avenue, across

Chania Court. The name is derived from initials, facilitating legibility for any individual.

Petty's hotel has a restaurant that offers fast food options for sale.

Services and Products of the Business

Petty's hotel offers both dine-in and take-out alternatives. The term "dine in" refers to the

process of accommodating and serving clients inside the restaurant premises, whereas "take out"

refers to the act of selling meals to customers who intend to enjoy them outside the restaurant,

often in their homes or other locations.

The restaurant's exceptional standards of preparation also apply to its takeaway service, allowing

customers to order the same delectable meal and have it delivered promptly while still

maintaining its temperature and deliciousness. In Nairobi, Kenya, the establishment of a digital

network has resulted in a significant increase in the use of motorcycles for delivery purposes

(Sitas et al., 2022).

Objectives of the Business, Organization Chart and Working Hours

Petty's Hotel aims to provide breakfast and lunch to its clientele by ensuring that the dining

facilities are open from 6 am to 9 pm. Additionally, the menus are often available for internet

viewing.

The Aim of Location of the Business

Based on extensive study, Petty's hotel is well situated in the Kilimani district, which attracts a

large number of international residents who like to purchase meals online from nearby vendors

or dine in at the closest location offering their favored cuisine.

Competition within the industry.

Petty's hotel in Kilimani has encountered numerous obstacles posed by larger foreign-owned

fast-food restaurants. However, Petty's hotel maintains a consistent level of cleanliness, ensures a

reliable stock, adheres to punctuality, provides attractive offers, and maintains a loyal customer

base through consistency. Additionally, the hotel benefits from uninterrupted power and water

supply, as well as a commitment to offering high-quality food, which has enabled it to surpass its

competitors. (Mwangi, 2010). The primary obstacles in the fast-food industry are evolving

customer tastes and preferences, alternative options, and the proficiency of the workforce, which

have been diligently avoided.

Unique Selling Point and Pricing.

The distinguishing feature is our ability to compute the daily food expenditure. The term "food

cost" refers to the total expenditure on raw materials and the corresponding revenue generated

from the sale of food. Typically, Petty's food cost falls within the range of 25-30%, which

contributes to determining the prices of items. Petty's hotel will consistently develop marketing

strategies to enhance its brand recognition among customers and cultivate a strong and loyal

customer base on an annual basis
