INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW

1: PATENT:
A patent is the legal law document issued by the government which gives the inventor rights to
make, use, and sell their invention. They can sell for 20 years from the application date. It means
no other can make, use, or sell the invention. They will need permission. Patents can cover the
following:
 new and useful inventions
 machines
 products
 substances or methods.
They can be physical things like machines or more abstract ideas like processes. For a patent, the
invention should be new and not known in the previous time.
2: DIGITAL WATERMARK:
Hidden information added to digital content like
 documents
 audio
 video
 images
to show ownership or authenticity without changing the original work. Digital Watermarks
should not be confused with the visible water marks as they require special software for the
detection. They help prevent illegal copying or distribution by identifying the content's owner or
creator. They also verify that digital content hasn't been altered. They can include details like
authorship, copyright status, usage rights, and tracking information about the content's
distribution and use.
3: TRADEMARK:
Important assets that help businesses build and protect their brands, create a market identity, and
gain loyal customers. They provide legal protection and support fair competition. A trademark is
a unique mark that distinguishes among the products from one party from another. It can be a
sign, symbol, word, phrase, or logo. Trademarks are keys to branding and marketing as they help
customers to recognize and connect products or services with a specific source.

4: COPYRIGHTS:
Copyright is a law that gives creators rights to use and share their original works for a set time. It
means no other can use their products. It protects the rights of authors, artists, musicians,
filmmakers, and others over their creative works. Copyright encourages both creativity and
innovation by giving creators control and legal protection, motivating them to create and share

new works.
