COMPETITION REGULATIONS FOR 2023

Art. 1 – In memory of Dr. Enrico Mercatali, a Guitarist who played for many years with

the Gorizia Guitar Orchestra, the social-promotion association “Centro Chitarristico

Mauro Giuliani” establishes and organizes the 20th Altamira Gorizia Guitar Competition

- Enrico Mercatali Prize. This competition, meant to promote and develop the musical

art, is open to all performers of both sexes and all nationalities.

Art. 2 – The competition will take place at Palazzo de Grazia in Gorizia (address: via

Guglielmo Oberdan 15, Gorizia, Italy) from 19 to 21 May 2023 and will consist of the

following categories:

1st category: soloists born in 2012 and after;

2 nd category: soloists born in 2009 and after;

3 rd category: soloists born in 2007 and after;

4th category: soloists born in 2004 and after;

5th category: chamber music for young competitors. Guitar duo, trio, quartet and

ensemble; guitar with other instrument/s. The average age of the components of the

groups should not exceed 19 years old.

6th category (The Enrico Mercatali Prize): soloists with no age limit;

7th category: chamber music with no age limit: guitar duo, trio, quartet and ensem-

ble; guitar with other instrument/s.

The Organization reserves the right to cancel a category if it is not reaching the mini-

mum number of three participants. In this case, the paid registration fee will be refunded

7 th category: free program of the maximum duration of 20 minutes.

For all categories, the program may be performed both by memory or by reading music

sheets.
