UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT SENATE

Reciprocity Parking East Campus BILL – S.24-R-044

Concerning the support for the push for more reciprocity parking on East Campus for
commuter students within the University of Cincinnati’s Student Body.

1. Whereas, the University of Cincinnati continues to see record enrollment, in turn

exponentiating the total number of commuter students needing parking,

2. Whereas, shuttle services from Main Campus to East Campus are not adequate or
consistently reliable and a daily walking commute on MLK is widely recognized to be long
and dangerous,

3. Whereas, the University of Cincinnati students, especially those from certain colleges, are
forced to park on East campus for a plethora of reasons and have a large need for parking,

4. Whereas, the University of Cincinnati commuter students already pay hefty fees for
parking passes and often spend even more on East garages fees due to a lack of reciprocity
parking,

5. Whereas, a lack of reciprocity parking can create large additional financial, logistical, and
psychological burdens for commuter students, making it more challenging for them to
succeed academically and personally,

6. Whereas, there is a great need for more reciprocity parking and this issue affects students
across a multitude of colleges,

7. Therefore, be it resolved that Student Government continue to make efforts to support

and initiate action to provide commuter students with more reciprocity parking on East
Campus to better promote social and academic experiences for University of Cincinnati’s
student body.
