GUIDELINES FOR PEER-REVIEWING

COMPARISON AND CAUSE/EFFECT ESSAYS

A-essay structure and content


1. Is there a title?
2. Is there a hook? Is it effective?
3. Is there connecting information? Is it effective?
4. Is there a thesis statement? Is it effective?
5. Do body paragraphs include topic sentences? Are they effective?
6. Do body paragraphs include supporting sentences? Are they effective?
7. Does the conclusion include a restatement of the thesis statement? Is it effective?
8. Does the conclusion include opinion, suggestion or a predication?
9. Is the length of the conclusion reasonable? (Does it include enough sentences?)
10. Does the essay include sufficient and relevant ideas?
11. Does the essay reach the word limit of 350-400 words?

C-essay presentation and layout


1. Is the handwriting neat, clear and legible?
2. Does the written material look tidy and well-organized on the paper?
3. Is the essay divided into separate, distinct paragraphs?

D-essay language
1. Spelling errors
2. Capitalization errors
3. Punctuation errors
4. Grammar errors
