METHOD STATEMENT

Introduction
This work method describes the tasks and activities that will be carried in line with the below -
mentioned work at LV Switch-room.
❑ Replacement of ACB

1.0 Aim
The aim of this work procedure is to provide a general guide on the descriptions of tasks and
activities to the site staff and contractor to performing the above task.

2.0 Safety
All safety instructions with regards to working in HV equipment should be complied andadhered.
“No work shall be carried out on LIVE EQUIPMENT”. All procedures relating to unwanted accident
or incident should be reported. Please immediately contact SE PIC assigned if you are in doubt of
any information in print.

Site engineers shall comply and adhere to all safety instructions with regards to the safety
standards enforced by Customer. Should any issues arise during the work activity, report to
Customer’s Staff immediately.

3.0 Work Methods


3.1 Preliminary Checks & Inspections

❑ Permit to work (PTW) or Risk Assessment (RA) obtained from the relevant party
indicating the shutdown circuit should be verified to ensure that works to be carried out
are safe.

❑ PTW should be pasted on conspicuous location to notify site staff and visitors on the
nature of works carried out and the associated circuits that are isolated and dead.

❑ Hazard tape and Danger Tag should be placed on equipment, which is not affected by the
servicing works to warn staff/worker of high voltage present on these equipment or
equipment being energized.

❑ LOTO should be implemented on equipment, which is isolated as indicated on the


PTW/RA.

❑ Supervisor to ensure all workers have proper PPE during the work process and all
workers should be briefed of work procedure and safety measure prior to start of work.

❑ Any work that requires connection to power socket outlet will be used in concurrence
with an External E/F protection.

3.2 Work Process
❑ SE personnel to ensure competent person during the work process.
❑ Customer’s LEW/Authorized person to shut down and de-energize the equipment.
❑ Client to issue PTW to SE PIC.
❑ Perform insulation resistance (500V) and contact resistance (10A) tests on new ACB.
❑ Remove and bring down the existing air circuit breaker using manual manpower, at
least 5-6 man. (Can use ACB lifting trolley if client site available)
❑ Bring up and install new air circuit breaker using manual manpower , at least 5-6
man.(Can use ACB lifting trolley if client site available)
❑ Perform rack in/out of circuit breaker at chassis and ensure smooth operation.
❑ Perform ACB on/off function test (electrical and manual).
❑ Perform SI test on Micrologic 2.0A/5.0A using full function test kit.
❑ Replacement of any wear and tear accessories (If applicable and provided by client)
❑ Inspection of work by Customer’s LEW/authorized person.
❑ Customer’s LEW/Authorized person to energize the equipment.
❑ Cancellation of PTW between parties.
❑ General housekeeping after completion of work process.

4. Contingency Plan
All party must be contactable in any case. In case of emergency, stop work and inform
Customer’s Staff/Personnel.

5. Manpower allocation
The involved parties such as Customer’s staff must be present when the work is being
carried out.
