 CONNECT
Relate the text to yourself,
other texts and the world around
you by making connections.
 INFER
Use your background knowledge
and clues from the text to draw
conclusions and fill in gaps.
 IDENITFY
Look for main ideas, important
details, themes in the text and
identify the authors purpose.
 EVALUATE
Think about the text as a
whole and form opinions, make
judgments, and develop ideas
from the reading.
SUMMARIZE
Retell the most important
parts of the story in your own
shortened version.
