A long time ago, before eagles became chiefs of their people, there was a Grandmother Eagle who was

warming her feathers near the Sun, Inya. She saw a rabbit named Kwinyaw and decided to catch it for
food. However, when she was about to grab Kwinyaw, she noticed a baby rabbit unlike any she had seen
before. Kwinyaw claimed the baby as her own, saying she had dug him from the ground since, in those
days, children were born from the soil and water.

Grandmother Eagle asked where she could find a child on her own, and Kwinyaw suggested asking Inya,
the Sun. Following Inya's guide, Grandmother Eagle found a baby eagle named Kwaaypaay near a spring.
She adopted him and raised him with love.

As Kwaaypaay grew, Grandmother Eagle fed him and tried to encourage him to explore the world
beyond their nest, but he remained comfortable and hesitant. She attempted to show him the world's
wonders, but Kwaaypaay resisted, fearing. Eventually, Grandmother Eagle pushed him out of the nest to
teach him to fly and become self-reliant.

Kwaaypaay struggled at first but learned to glide and soar with Grandmother Eagle's help. He gained
confidence and the desire to explore the wide world beyond their nest, fulfilling Grandmother Eagle's
hope that he would become a great leader.
