N EW DELHI: As the results come in for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. the trends show the Bhartiya Janata Party-led NDA will cross the
majority mark of 272 seats. The surprising results however show the opposition's INDIA bloc denting the NDA's seat tally and leading
on over 230 seats.

Trends showed the BJP leading on 240 seats as Prime Minister Narendra Modi attempted to come back at the Centre for the third
consecutive term. This means, the BJP, which in 2019 achieved the majority mark on its own, will now have to depend on its allies to form the
government at the Centre. In the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP took two decisions which now help the NDA form government.
The return of N Chandrababu Naidu: As both the NDA and the INDIA bloc huddled to bring in the regional parties in the alliance, the BJP
decided to go with Naidu, instead of Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh. Both the Andhra leaders were initially in talks with the BJP for
Feedback
alliance. The party, however, decided to go with Naidu who has now made a big political comeback and how. Naidu's TDP seems to be
comfortably crossing the majority mark of 88 seats in Andhra Pradesh assembly election. The party has one seat and is leading on 132.

Naidu's TDP is also emerging as the single-largest party in Lok Sabha elections with the TDP leading on 16 seats. Jagan's YSRCP is leading at
4 and the BJP on 3 seats.
His alliance will now play a crucial role in forming the government at the Centre.
Alliance with Nitish Kumar: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who switched alliance twice in last five years, came back in NDA fold to fight
the Lok Sabha elections2024. The BJP, which had earlier maintained that alliance with Nitish's JD(U) is not possible at any cost after his flip-
flop, decided to bring him back for the elections.
In Bihar, as per the seat-sharing formula, BJP fought on 17 seats, JD(U) 16 seats, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on five seats, and Hindustani
Awam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) one seat each. The JD(U) is now leading on 14 seats and the BJP on 13. This alliance
will now help the BJP as it fails to cross the majority mark on its own.

A ll eyes are on the Lok Sabha Elections Results 2024, set to be declared by Tuesday evening. The Election Commission's trend shows a
close contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA and the Opposition's INDIA bloc. By 4 pm on Tuesday, the BJP won eight
seats and led on 234 seats. The Congress, meanwhile, won four seats and was leading on 95 Lok Sabha seats.

Against the backdrop of the vote counting for the Lok Sabha polls, the official election trends and results show how they contradict most of
the exit polls and political strategists. One such prediction was made by political strategist and commentator Prashant Kishor last month in an
interview with news agency PTI.
Kishor had claimed that the BJP, "in all likelihood", would emerge as the "No.1" party in West Bengal. "They could very well be No.1 in
Bengal...many of you will be surprised, but in all likelihood, to my mind...BJP is going to emerge as No. 1 party in West Bengal in Lok Sabha,"
Kishor had told news agency PTI.

However…
The trends released by the Election Commission show Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) leading 29 seats. Meanwhile, the BJP
was seen leading 12 seats, and the Congress one seat, around 4:30 p.m. The TMC and the Congress are part of the Opposition's INDIA bloc,
but decided to contest the Lok Sabha Polls separately in West Bengal.

There are 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, the BJP won 18 seats, while the TMC won 22.
If the trends prove right, it will come as a fall for Prashant Kishor and many other poll pundits who had predicted a huge win for the BJP in
West Bengal.

Today's Chanakya predicted 24 ± 5 seats for the BJP in TMC-ruled Bengal. It said Mamata Banerjee's TMC could win 17 ± 5 seats. There are
42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. The TMC has won majority seats in the past Lok Sabha polls.
Well, the final official results will confirm whether the exit/opinion poll was right or wrong. The Lok Sabha Elections results will de declared by
Tuesday.
