Strength and Opportunities identified by SWOT analysis for learning and development:

SWOT analysis when applied to learning and development guides in skill improvement,
advancement of career or pursue a new passion. SWOT analysis is a strategic tool that helps to
assess potencies, drawbacks and opportunities.

For identification of weaknesses and
threats for learning and development
self-assessment tools such as feedback
forms, surveys, tests, quizzes are
necessary to check current level ok
knowledge and progress. When it comes
to overcoming these weaknesses this involves identifying the root cause of knowledge gaps and
seek appropriate guidance, coaching or counseling to resolve them. It’s important to strategise
the learning plan and outline the skills and topics that need to be learned. Also, implementing a
feedback loop, seek constructive criticism and celebrating the success is important. The major
factor for successful learning and development is anticipating potential challenges and preparing
alternative solutions.

Analyses of self-assessment results using a relevant coach model:

Using leadership coach models one can help make process easier for new and experienced
managers. COACH framework – The structure constructed for manager and leaders in building a
foundation for development. Essential skill for a coach includes being focused and engaged,
inspiring, sowing interests and concern for employees and being rigorous. Coaching style: It’s a
framework a leader introduces at the workplace to create a culture of high performance. The
characteristics in common of high performing culture include collaboration, empowerment and
motivation.

Leadership coaching models are considered to be valuable as it helps the team to be more
efficient and effective. Benefits of leadership model include increase in skill development,
improve individual, team and business performance, develop and identify high potential
employees, develop strategic thought by having pre plan and align resources. Identifies
individual’s team and strength, and empower coaches and encourage them to take responsibility.

GROW Model: Goal, Reality, Options, Will.


The main aim of this model is for goal setting and problem solving strategies. It is widely used
by coaches as it’s flexible and it can be applied across disciplines and culture. It was developed
by John Whitmore and Max Landsberg published in 1992.

Steps in the GROW leadership Coaching model:

GOAL: drafting a goal or end result the coach or manager would like to target.

REALITY: Identify the reality of coaches status and their challenges towards achieving a goal

OPTIONS: Addressing the issue or the problem and to focus on identifying the action steps and
resources to develop a skill that will lead to improvement of the situation.

WILL: Developing a plan to meet the goals. SMART goals and development action Plan can be
used for this purpose.

Grow model guide the coaches from goal to action plan creation. The coaches use open ended
questions to direct the conversations.

Through the analysis of grow coaching model I was able to assess my weakness mentioned in the
SWOT analyses and identified my skill gaps. I was able to solve the work oriented problems that
were related to my areas of weakness. I also got clarity regarding my thoughts through the ‘goal’
attribute as it helped to establish a clear goal and kept me motivated to achieve the end results.
Once my goal got cleared the actual reality assessment was done which helped me to know about
my true weakness and strengths in a clear way initially I was not topic oriented and create link,
but by analyzing the current situation, exploring new ideas and engaging myself in open end
conversations cleared my assumptions and didn’t left me confused, giving me a sense of self
confidence I got more dedicated towards my work. After these I addressed all the possible

options that were available that is ‘ Options Exploration’ and noted down the major points, with
the help of coaches I was able to figure out the useful choices from those options in a structured
manner that directed me towards my final goal. I was also able to figure out the benefits and
downsides of the each option. Final step was the ‘willingness to act’ or way forward when I was
able to identify specific steps or action and was able to execute it correctly, my motivation skill
got enhanced as I engaged myself more often in goal oriented tasks. Grow coaching model not
only helped me to improve my performance but also helped me to plan and reach the longer term
career objectives. Grow coaching model helped me to unlock my potential and increased my
self-confidence and motivation and eventually up graded my performance. I was able to ask
effective questions that promoted a deeper level of awareness and responsibility which lead to
understanding of the practical steps, accomplish goals and overcome obstacles. The GROW
coaching model also helped me to improve my personal development goals and achieving work
life balance.

Leadership and Professional Development: Strategies for Personal and


Professional Growth.

In business industry personal and professional growth and development is as important as


enhancement of skills. The comprehensive strategies for personal and professional growth,
leadership and skills development helps in creating an effective networking, leadership
excellence and career fulfillment. By setting clear goals a sense of purpose and direction is given
to the career. Continual learning and investment in courses, workshops, seminars, and workshops
should be incorporated to remain forefront of your field. Other strategies include seeking
guidance from experienced mentors to challenge your thinking. Public speaking and presentation
skills improve your self-confidence and ability to convey ideas. Innovation, creativity and
adaptive thinking will make your ideas and skills stand out amongst all. Strategic networking and
meaningful connections support your career goals. Personality trait of self-reflection will help to
assess strength, weakness and areas for improvement. Other strategies that would build fulfilling

Therefore from the above considerations it is analysed that how important it was for me to assess
my skills assessment tools using the SWOT analysis that helped me to understand learning and
development needs that were required to enhance my performance and productivity. I was able
to enhance my strengths and rectify my weaknesses. The GROW coaching model provided me a

better framework to achieve my goals effectively along with time management. It also helped me
to promote engagement across team and organisation. This model has helped me to yield higher
productivity, improve communication skills, better quality working environment and improve
interpersonal relationship that avoided conflicts. Lastly, by creating a personal development plan
and working on personal development strategies I was able to overcome my weakness barriers in
a positive way by incorporating strategies in workplace and working on it through various
resources. It was important for me to work on this personal development plan as it helped me set
clear, specific and achievable goals.
