SECTION A: (Answer all questions)

1. Compare and contrast ground photographs and oblique photographs.

2. Carefully study the sheet given (sheet 55/3) then answer the questions
(a) Calculate the length from grid reference 400368 to 500340 (Give your answer in KM)
(b) (i) Find the bearing from Kiuti hill to Ngresi hill
(ii) From B (i) above what type of bearing observed.
(c) Convert the scale into linear scale.
(d) Describe the drainage pattern from the mapped area.
(e) What are the functions of Arusha town.
(f) Describe the climate of the area.
(g) What are the economic activities of the mapped area.
3. The magnetic bearing of town B was 265o45´34˝ and the magnetic variation of 7o55´ W as at
June 1992, if the annual change was 6´E. Calculate
i) The new magnetic variation as at April 2008
ii) The new magnetic bearing for April 2008 if the annual change would have been 6´W

4. Describe and explain the various land forms associated with faulting process.
5. What are the factors influencing river regime?
6. Describe the ways in which spring can occur.
7. The continental drift theory is irrelevant to Africa continent. Discuss.
8. Why are the igneous rock referred to as mother rock.
