WEATHER DISTURBACES
Weather disturbance is a general term that
describes any pulse of energy moving through the
atmosphere. It refers to any change in atmospheric
conditions or weather patterns.

• Tropical Cyclone

• Tropical Storm
• Typhoon/Hurricane/Cyclone

• Tornado

WEATHER DISTURBACES
A Tropical Cyclone is described as a rotating,
organized system of clouds and thunderstorms that
originate over tropical and subtropical water and has a
closed, low-level circulation. It has a low pressure center
and clouds spiraling towards the
eye wall surrounding the "eye",
the central part of the system
where the weather is normally
calm and free of clouds.
WEATHER DISTURBACES
Tropical Cyclone originates over warm tropical oceans
and is characterized by low atmospheric
pressure, high winds, and heavy rain. Once tropical cyclone
reaches a maximum sustained wind of 74 miles per hour or
higher, it is then classified as a
Hurricane, typhoon, or cyclone.
WEATHER DISTURBACES
Tropical Storm
It is a general term for severe weather condition. It
is a tropical cyclone with a wind speed of 62 km/p
or higher but not greater than 118 km/p.
WEATHER DISTURBACES
Typhoon, Hurricane, Cyclone
It is a tropical cyclone with a wind speed of 118 km/p or higher but
not greater than 220 km/p.
• Typhoon come from the Chinese word “tai fung” meaning great
winds. It is a tropical cyclone that occurs in the Northwest
Pacific Ocean.
• Hurricane come from Spanish word “huracan” storm. It is a
tropical cyclone that occurs in Pacific Ocean and Atlantic
Ocean.
• Cyclone is a tropical cyclone that occurs in South Pacific
Ocean and Indian Ocean.

Tornado
It is a violently rotating column of air that is in contact with
the surface of the earth and clouds. Most tornadoes form
from thunderstorms. Warm, moist air and cool, dry air.
When these two air masses meet, they create instability
in the atmosphere. A change in wind direction and an
increase in wind speed with increasing height creates an
invisible, horizontal spinning effect in the lower
atmosphere.
