INTRODUCTION
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are programs
that guide the development of countries in the world
initiated by the United Nations (UN). This program was
agreed upon by 193 countries and governments around
the world through the document “Transforming Our
World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” at
the 70th United Nations General Assembly in September
2015.

The SDGs have five basic principles that underlie the

economic, social and environmental fields, namely: 1)
People, 2) Planet (earth), 3) Prosperity, 4) Peace, 5)
Partnership (cooperation) and 17 Goals and 169 Goals to
achieve a better human life and the universe. The
agreement of UN member countries on the SDGs has the
consequence that countries in the world must
implement the SDGs program to achieve the targets that
have been set.

Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) as one of the Legal

Entity State Universities in Indonesia has a vision of
being an "excellent research university" (Utama and
Ambariyanto, 2017), supported by the selection of
Undip's Principal Scientific Pattern, namely Coastal
Region Eco-development (Ambariyanto et al, 2017)
strongly supports this. Regarding the University's Vision
and Scientific Principles UNDIP is actively developing the
SDGs program at the institutional level to support the
Indonesian government in achieving all the goals that are
targeted in the SDGs program. Sustainability is the basis
for policy development at UNDIP, for that UNDIP
developed UNITY (UNDIP Initiatives for Sustainability)
(Ambariyanto et al, 2018).

Considering UNDIP is a higher education institution,

UNDIP implement its policy to develop an
advanced/modern, safe, and comfortable campus for the
learning and teaching process (Utama, et al, 2017).
Furthermore, in the process of implementing the
program to achieve SDGs goals, all UNDIP stakeholders
including lecturers, employees, students and the
community around the campus are fully involved in
accordance with their respective capacities.

The purpose of preparing this report is to provide an

overview of the programs and achievements that have
been carried out by UNDIP in 2022 in carrying out its role
to support the achievement of the 17 SDGs goals.

CREATIVE ECONOMY: VILLAGE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

UNDIP through Student Community Service, educates the community in Sapta Marga Village, Semarang
about Creative Economy, where this concept relies on creativity and ideas from its human resources as
the main production of economic activities. Based on the large number of human resources available
and seeing the potential where many Sapta Marga villagers are breeders. This is an opportunity in
economic improvement by utilizing the potential of the village through the development of creativity in
villagers. From this, it will be able to create a new job for the surrounding area and of course will be an

CAFFEINE-FREE GREEN TEA NANOPOLYPHENOLS AS FUNCTIONAL FOOD

INCORPORATION
Green tea contains tannins and polyphenols that are quite high as anti-oxidants, anti-
inflammatory, and anti-cancer that can prevent heart disease and stroke, inhibit the growth of
cancer cells, prevent diabetes, and can even lose weight and other benefits. However, green
tea contains caffeine which is not good for excessive consumption, even not good for
consumption in children and elderly. Lecturers of the Vocational School of Universitas
Diponegoro (UNDIP) research how the effects of caffeine from green tea can be minimized to
produce quality green tea that can be used as functional food so that anyone can consume it

ELECTRICITY IN THE MANGROVE AREA
Mangrove area in the Teluk Awur area is aimed at protecting the environment from carbon
emissions. This mangrove area prioritises solar cell technology as a source of electricity in
the conservation area. Solar energy, which is converted into electrical energy, will be used
for lighting and charging cellphones. Solar cell technology is applied in mangrove areas with
the aim of utilising the solar intensity obtained in coastal areas. Initial capital for this
technology is not cheap, but annual maintenance is relatively low. If the installation of solar
panels is located in the middle of the city, it can inhibit the transmission of solar irradiation
to the solar modules. These solar panels, which are close to the coast, prevent dust from
accumulating as a result of air pollution from industry or transportation.

RENEWABLE ENERGY RESEARCH

Currently, energy-related research involves microbials in the context of the sustainable prospects of
the future energy sector. The science underlying such Microbial Fuel Cell involves the formation of
electrons and protons during the metabolic breakdown of the substrate by microorganisms at the
anode, which are then transferred to the cathode for the production of electricity.

COLLABORATIVE ACTION FOR IMPROVING FOOD SECURITY

The department of agrotechnology and the residents of Demak district are collaborating on
actions to prevent a decline in corn and rice production. The success of plant production is greatly
influenced by internal and external plant factors. Internal factors are those related to the nature
and genetics of the plant. Some plants are resistant to disease and environmental factors, but
some are less resistant. Meanwhile, external factors are those related to the environment and
biotic factors. Environmental factors are agro-climatic conditions, nutrition, and soil fertility, while
biotic factors are the presence of pests and plant diseases. A mentoring program is carried out in
order to achieve food security so that we become more independent.

MANGROVE REHABILITATION AS AN EFFORT TO PROTECT COASTAL AREAS

One of the causes of damage to coastal areas is the disruption of natural balance. The conversion of
mangrove forests into ponds exacerbates the impact of abrasion in coastal areas. Mangrove
rehabilitation is one of Undip's focuses in efforts to restore and maintain the balance of coastal
areas. KeSEMaT as a student organization at Undip is one of the activists for mangrove
rehabilitation in Indonesia. KeSEMaT also provides guidance to the community regarding the
nursery, planting and maintenance of mangroves in Semarang and Jepara.

VERTICULTURE: SOLUTION FOR FARMING ON NARROW LAND
Limited land is one of the problems in farming, especially in urban areas such as Semarang.
Undip, through The Community Service Program, provides farming innovation using the
verticulture method. Verticulture is a vertical farming technique that does not require a large
area of land. Types of plants that are suitable for planting using the verticulture method are
vegetables such as lettuce, mustard greens, bok choy, kale and spinach. This type of
vegetable has roots that are not too extensive and has a short harvest period of around 30-40
days.
