Topic: Many people nowadays prefer organic produce which does not contain any harmful chemicals.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of promoting organic produce?

Answer

Organic farming, a form of sustainable agricultural system that advocates the importance of
harmlessness, has garnered considerable attraction in recent years. While it offers manifold advantages
for both the environment and general health, it is not without its share of drawbacks. This piece of
writing is going to present a comprehensive analysis of both the merits and demerits associated with the
promotion of organic produce.

On the one hand, supporting organic food is advantageous to a certain extent. First, it is beneficial in
terms of protecting the environment. In reality, certified organic production methods prohibit the use of
synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, which significantly reduces chemical runoff and harmful emissions on
atmosphere. Moreover, the soil of organic food is undoubtedly fertile compared to that of conventional
one because of the limitation of several harmful substances. Second, organic produce exerts a positive
impact on humans’ well-being. As a matter of fact, organic food is grown without the use of synthetic
chemicals, such as human-made pesticides and fertilizers, and simultaneously does not contain
genetically modified organisms. In addition, according to a research, organic produce reduces the risk of
cardiovascular disease, cancer, and blood pressure because it contains about 40% more antioxidants
than regular vegetables. Indeed, organic food is an ideal choice for people to pursue a healthy diet.

Despite the aforementioned advantages, organic products undeniably bring about several
disadvantages. A major drawback is that organic food demands sophisticate engines, therefore, many
businesses in some underprivileged countries can not get access to cutting-edge equipment and
facilities, which are necessary for organic producing. For example, some remote areas are inaccessible to
organic farming’s infrastructure due to the lack of education and means of engines to practise, so their
inhabitants have no chance to use these healthy foods. Last but not least, expenses to produce organic
foods are unaffordable to some certain businesses. In fact, organic food factories are equiped with
expensive and imposing engines and technologies. Hence, many agencies or producers can not afford
them to manufacture organic products to meet customers’ demands. This has an adverse bearing on
productivities and actual outputs, which directly leads to the recession of the economy of that area.

In conclusion, organic produce has the potential to generate numerous positive outcomes, including
helping the environment and general health. However, it must be approached with caution and a strong
commitment to sustainable practices to mitigate its drawbacks.
