Action Plan for the FSRP IAA Project Activity

Introduction
FSRP (Food Systems Resilience Project), is a world bank sponsored agricultural
development project aimed at creating sustainable food system solutions to the
challenges of food production, supply and consumption. It has an ultimate aim of
ensuring food and nutrition security and alleviating poverty among the poor. The
National Fisheries and Aquatic Life Research Center (NFALRC), is one of the EIAR
centers responsible for implementing the project’s activities with the fishery
commodity.

One among the four activities planned to be implemented by the center is the
demonstration activity taken over by the agricultural extension and
communication process of the center. A research and development activity
named: “Demonstration of Integrated Aquaculture Agriculture for Urban and
Peri-Urban Areas of Ethiopia”. The activity is aimed at integrating small-scale fish
farming within the farming system of urban and peri-urban areas of Ethiopia,
where the output or by-product of one agricultural enterprise is used as an input
for the other. This action plan is prepared to create awareness; frame the
coordination of researchers and the support staff within the center, for successful
implementation of the Project’s demonstration activity. Hence, to contribute for
