7.2 Academic Audit and actions taken thereof during the period of Assessment 10

The internal quality audit cell of Jaya Engineering College functions as Academic Audit
cell. Department activities are reviewed by the IQAC members once in a month. The
main objective of IQAC is
 To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the
academic and administrative performance of the institution.
 To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enchancement
through internalization of quality culture and best practices.
Composition of the IQAC
IQAC has been constituted in the institution with the aim of improving the quality of
education.

IQAC/ISO Auditing
IQAC functions under the guidance of the principal. Internal audit is conducted by
IQAC cell for every 3 months and the following activities are reviewed
 Preparation of the academic schedule.
 Conduction of the theory classes and practical classes
 Monitoring and conducting internal assessment and university exams.
 Placement and training offered and maintaing placement database.
 Encouraging the faculty members to do research and produce good quality
publications.

Lectures and labs evaluation: Departmental IQAC coordinator ensures the timely
syllabus coverage in theory and laboratory courses as per the university schedule. IQAC
coordinator also audits for contents beyond the syllabus and curriculum gaps
implementation.
Student feedback: Student feedback on faculty is taken from students during 6th week of
the semester.
a) Programme Assessment Committee (PAC):
Programme Assessment Committee (PAC) is formed at the department level to ensure
quality in execution and implementation of the program. PAC verifies the adaptation of
continues quality improvement initiatives in enhancing the attainment of COs, POs and
PSOs. PAC also monitors all the academic related activities and suggest timely suitable
amendments through its meetings. The constitution of the PAC is presented in Table

b) Department Advisory Committee (DAC):
To maintain effectiveness and quality in academic related activities an external expert
person from academics and an industry person (stakeholders) have been incorporated in
the committee. The significant monitoring activities of DAC include implementation of
academics, preparation of programme curriculum (implementation of university
curriculum along with additional contents and

7.3 Improvement in Placement, Higher Studies and Entrepreneurship

Training and Placement Cell provides necessary infrastructure for the students to get
placement. Also it offers guidance and training to the students for career planning and
personality development by conducting various short term programs. Training and
Placement cell invites different companies for campus recruitment of final year students
 Students are provided aptitude coaching and classes for communication skill
development right from second year onwards.
 Placement oriented value added courses have been conducted during semester
holidays.
 Students are given with Placement training from various external sources.
 Students are encouraged to do ICT lab for enhancing programming skills.
 Entrepreneurship Development camp used to be organized in the Department to
encourage the students to become entrepreneurs.
 Conduction of GATE coaching classes for 3rd year students.
 Conduction of UPSC, TNPSC and Bank coaching classes for students.
