How to prepare a 1N HCl solution in 100 ml?

NV = NV
1 1 2 2

Normality of HCL = 12N

Now,
N = 12N
1

N = 1N (Given)
2

V = 100 ml
2

V =?
1

After putting the given values in the formula, we get

12 × V = 1 × 100
1

V = 100/12
1

V = 8.33
1

So, 8.33 mL HCl should be added to 100 L, to get a 1N HCI solution

How do I prepare a 0.05N NaOH solution

It is pretty straight forward though you do need to know how much is to be prepared. I’ll assume 1 L and
you can scale it to any volume you want/need.
First, weigh out 0.05 mole of NaOH. The molecular weight of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is 40
g/mol so 0.05 mol is:
0.05 mole * 40 g/mole = 2 g
Find a clean 1 L volumetric flask. Fill it 1/2 to 3/4 full of pure distilled water (or nanopure water,
etc.) and add the NaOH. The dissolution is exothermic so add slowly. After dissolution is
complete, let the water cool back to room temperature and dilute to the mark. The solution may
have warmed during dilution so let the flask sit until it has returned to room temp and check to
make sure the solution level is still at the mark on the flask. If not, add water to the mark.
Finally, invert the flask several times to mix. This will, in principle, give you a 0.05 M solution
and, for NaOH, molarity and normality are the same, so a 0.05 N solution of NaOH.

Caveat: Sodium hydroxide is very hygroscopic and also reacts with CO2 in the air. Unless the
container of NaOH you are using has never been exposed to the atmosphere it is not likely to be
100 % pure. Consequently, your solution will be of a concentration that is less than 0.05 N. In
reality, you would make up this solution such that the concentration is higher than 0.05 N. Then,
you would titrate it with a primary standard acid (e.g., potassium hydrogen phthalate) and the
NaOH solution to get 0.05 N
How do I prepare a 0.05N NaOH

first prepare 0.1N NaOH solution. Then 100ml of 0.05N NaOH is prepared from 0.1N solution
using the formula

V1N1 = V2N2

where 1 refers to 0.1N solution and 2 refers to the 0.05N solution.

we know N1=0.1N , V2=100mL , N2=0.05N

v1ml of 0.1N is taken in 100ml standard flask and made upto mark to get the required solution
