Menicon is a contact lens manufacturer born in

Japan. The high reputation of skillful craftsmanship
originating in Japan is based on the country’s long-
valued “spirit of the craftsman.”

Within a traditional pastime “origami”, one can

observe the essence of Japanese craftsmanship.
Both a single sheet of origami and a single contact
lens provide people with infinite possibilities through
just one piece of artwork.

Contributing to society

Menicon developed the first commercialized corneal contact lenses in Japan. Since then,
we have been industry leaders as “pioneers in contact lens production” for many years.

We will continue to develop safe and high-quality products and are also determined to
undertake challenges in healthcare and lifecare in addition to our vision care business,
which mainly deals with contact lenses. We regard “seeing” as the act of “feeling pleasure
and joy through the five senses and being empathetic.” To help you realize more
enriched days filled with smiles, we will continue to promote varied types of “seeing” that
are appropriate for various circumstances and life stages.

Menicon’s Founder Kyoichi Tanaka

“Do not imitate others.”

Kyoichi Tanaka created Japan’s first practical

corneal contact lens from scratch in 1951.
This is where the legacy of Menicon began.

The Man Who Created Japan’s First Corneal Contact Lens

Within three months, Kyoichi had created Japan's

first corneal contact lens on February 8, 1951. This
was the beginning of Menicon.

After that, Kyoichi continued to research contact

lenses and to develop safe material, manufacturing
methods, and manufacturing machines in order to
create high quality contact lenses.

Kyoichi Tanaka was born on July 8, 1931. After

graduating from the upper school of the ‘national

Menicon Bloom, a holistic treatment plan for myopia control, has

MeniCare Pure is the newest multi-purpose solution
produced by Menicon to promote healthy RGP lens
care. The product is a solution formulated with natural
ingredients such as ε-polylysine (instead of PHMB) as a
disinfecting agent as well as vitamin C glucoside and
hyaluronic acid.
Menicon Progent
Menicon Progent is a solution particularly recommended
for cleaning and removing proteins from the surface of
lenses and involves simply soaking them in the mixture
for just 30 minutes. Strong and rapid disinfection in five
minutes against all organisms likely to contaminate
lenses, including bacteria, mold, yeast, viruses, and
Ancanthamoeba trophozoites and cysts.
