SIMPLICIAL COHOMOLOGY IS COMONADIC COHOMOLOGY

FRANK MURPHY-HERNANDEZ, HECTOR, AND EDUARDO

Abstract.

Introduction
1. Preliminaries
In this paper naturals N include the zero 0. For a category C, and objects A and
B in C, we write C(A, B) for the class of C-morphisms from A to B. We write C ◦
to the opposite category.
We denote by ∆ the simplex, which objects are the posets of the form [n] :=
{0, . . . , n} for n ∈ N and the morphisms are the monotone maps.
For C a category a monad is....
We denote by S the category of sets and functions, by T the category of topo-
logical spaces and the continues maps, and by A the category of abelian groups and
morphisms of groups. Also, we denote by F : S −→ A the free group functor, and
its right adjoint by U : A −→ S.

2. Singular Cohomology
For n ∈ N , we define the n-th standard simplex as:
X
∆n := {(x0 , . . . , xn ) ∈ Rn+1 | = 0n xi = 1, ∀i = 0, . . . , n}
i

In fact, ∆ : ∆ −→ S is a cosimplicial set.
For X a topological space, we denote by Sn (X) = T (∆n , X). Thus
S∗ (X) : ∆◦ −→ S is a simplicial set.

Proposition 3.1. Let (L, R) : C −→ D be an adjoint pair. Then (, , ) is a comonad
where is the counit of the adjunction.
Proof.

Proposition 3.2. Let (L, R) : C −→ D be an adjoint pair and A be a category.

Then (LA , RA ) : C A −→ DA is an adjoint pair.
Proof.
