Andrés Avelino Cáceres

He was a Peruvian soldier and politician who fought in the Pacific. War and was Constitutional

President of Perú twice; from 1886 to 1890 and from 1894 to 1895. He was born on

November 10, 1836, in Ayacucho, and died on October 10, 1923, Lima He is considered a

national hero for having fought in all the important battles of the Pacific War and for having led

the resistance of the central highlands against the Chilean occupation.
