FUEL SYSTEM:
Electrical fuel pumps are provided for each engine and provide normal fuel pressure in the event of a
mechanical fuel pump failure. Should an engine failure occur and a fuel supply problem is thought to exist,
the FUEL SELECTOR adjacent to the failed engine can be moved to the CROSSFEED position enabling fuel to
be supplied from the live side to both engines. If this and other actions fail to restart the engine and fuel
is available from the failed engine side, the live fuel selector can be placed to the CROSSFEED position
and the failed engine fuel selector placed in the OFF position to enable all the available fuel to be used
from the FAILED side.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:
The system circuitry is the single-wire, ground-return type, with the airplane structure used as the ground
return. The alternator switches, battery switch, magneto/start/prime switches, and auxiliary fuel pump
switches are located on the pilots sub-panel. This panel contains most of the electrical system switches
and switch type circuit breakers. Each is placarded as to its function.
The right subpanel contains the protective circuit breakers for the various electrical systems, and all
avionics circuit breakers.

BATTERY:
ONE 24 volt, 15.5 ampere-hour lead acid batteries are installed in a battery box in the aft fuselage
compartment. Battery fumes and gases are vented to the outside through two vents in the lower
fuselage skin below the battery box.

ALTERNATORS:
Two 55 ampere, 28 volt, belt-driven alternators are installed in the airplane. The self-excitation load
capability of the alternators is directly related to engine RPM. The self-excitation feature will not come on
until approximately 1200 to 1400 RPM with a load capability of approximately 50%. However, it will
remain on as engine speed is reduced to approximately 850 to 1000 RPM. A maximum load capability of
approximately 80% should be obtainable at approximately 2300 RPM engine speed.

LANDING GEAR SYSTEM:

The undercarriage is operated by an electrical hydraulic pump which supplied hydraulic pressure to retract
or lower the undercarriage. In addition to hydraulic pressure a spring holds each leg in an over-center
down position. Emergency extension can be effected by dumping the hydraulic pressure by the use of an
emergency extension tool. When the undercarriage is not extended, a warning horn will sound if the
throttle is retarded to the idle position and also sound if the flap is extended beyond 16°, regardless of the
throttle position. To prevent inadvertent retraction of the under-carriage on the ground a safety pressure
switch is installed in the pitot system to de-activate the hydraulic pump circuit when the impact air
pressure is below 59 to 63 Kts.
