TOPIC: The similarities and differences between face-to-face learning and

online learning.

When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, it led to changes in the learning system. One of
them is the learning environment, from face-to-face to online. Changes in the learning
environment have a clear impact on learners. Although face-to-face learning and online learning
have similar types of learning material, there is a slightly different in a social interaction among
learners.

Both face-to-face learning and online learning using the same types of learning material
while having a class. The learners require to use the same learning material in order to complete
the task consists of reading, writing and as a reference material for the exam. No matter if it is
an e-book or a hardcover book, you must learn the same material and understand the content.
Moreover, both face-to-face and online learning has the same assessments. Abduh, M. Y. M
(2021) said that the teaching technique is centred on assessment. It shapes students'
comprehension of the subject and determines their capacity for advancement. Additionally,
especially in EFL environments, teachers' beliefs have a significant impact on the educational
process.

Despite they use the same types of learning materials in class, there are slightly different in
social interaction among the learners while having a face-to-face or online learning. Learner
has the opportunity to interact with their teachers or friends if there is a question that arises and
will get a simple explanation immediately if they attend to face-to-face learning. However, the
online learning lack of social interaction. According to Bali and Liu (2018), Online learning has
generally been thought to be less interactive than face-to-face learning. mostly as a result of a
lack of social engagement, social presence, and student satisfaction. Futhermore, there is a
considerable gap between face-to-face and online learning in terms of student satisfaction. In
general, face-to-face students were happy with the course than their online counterparts in a
number of ways.
To conclude, despite having same learning materials, face-to-face learning and online
learning can be differ in social interaction among the learners. The learners using the same
material while attending their face-to-face or online learning class. On the other hand,
learners who attend to online learning lacks in social interaction than learners who attend to
face-to-face learning.
