Partial Index Combinations


#VP looks confusing, but really it requires you to be systematic and patient. Below are a
number of combinations that are possible using #VP.

Missing Chars Combinations Meaning of Combinations

One * 1 Missing Number


& 1 Missing Letter

Two ** 2 Missing Numbers


*& 1 Missing Number + 1 Missing Letter
&& 2 Missing Letters
&* 1 Missing Letter + 1 Missing Number

Three *** 3 Missing Numbers


**& 2 Missing Numbers + 1 Missing Letter
*&& 1 Missing Number + 2 Missing Letters
*&* 1 Missing Number + 1 Letter + 1 Number
&&* 2 Missing Letters + 1 Number
&** 1 Missing Letter + 2 Missing Numbers
&*& 1 Missing Letter + 1 Number + 1 Letter

Impossible Combinations
&&& or more 3 or more Missing Letters
**** or more 4 or more Missing Numbers

When using #VP you will need to be systematic and determined due to the number of
possibilities. Remember that:

ABC***A will match ABC111A but not ABC1A nor ABC11A


A&&111A will match ABC111A but not ABC1A nor ABC11A

A&&*11A will match ABC111A but not ABC1A nor ABC11A
A&C**1A will match ABC111A but not ABC1A nor ABC11A

Printing a list of vehicles using #VP


PNC will display a maximum of 250 results on a partial VRM combination. It is possible to print
up to a maximum of 999 results

1. On the home screen type a Y into the PTR field (bottom right of screen)
2. Go into the #VP format screen
3. Enter the partial combination that you wish to print
4. Hit enter - then follow the on screen instructions
