Shri Anurag Agarwal has joined as Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs,
Ministry of Finance on 27th September, 2017 and has been entrusted with the
additional charge of CMD of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India
Limited (SPMCIL) on 5th October 2017.

Shri Anurag Agarwal joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1990. He did B-Tech
(Mechanical) from IIT Kanpur.

During last 26 years, he worked in different positions with the Government of Punjab.
He served as Deputy Commissioner in the districts of Ludhiana and Bathinda. He
has been Project Director of several prestigious projects: World Bank project in
secondary health care, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, UNDP Project in auto parts
technology, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). He was CMD of Punjab State
Transmission Corporation Ltd, MD of Punjab Infrastructure Development Board,
Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation and Punsup, Punjab Civil Supplies
Corporation, CMD of two Power Plants at Talwandi Sabo and Rajpura set up in PPP
mode.

He has been Administrative Secretary of various Departments: Power, PWD,

Transport, Welfare, Social Security, Excise & Taxation and Sports & Youth Affairs.

He has authored two books "Quest for secrets of the universe" and "Female
Foeticide: Myth and Reality".
