HISTORY OF THE BARANGAY DAPCO

During Second World War II, this place was underneath the Japanese warfare with
some Christians. After the war the place turned into Abacca plantation by the ancient
Japanese named Montilla. He owned this area since year 1945 up to year 1955
within these years no one know the leader of all inhabitants, but because of the
owner they were living as tenants of Montilla. They received a salary of Php 2.25 per
day and it will be given every Saturday subsequently they enjoying games like
Basketball, Volleyball and cockfighting in the morning and at some stage in night
they would be having benefit dance using KUMPARSA and no electricity as of that
time. Due to the wideness of this land they were not able to plant Abaca the reason
was because of the deepness and watery of some portion and surrounded by the big
forest wherein used as the hidden place by the wild animals. In year 1956 such place
was bought by Don Manuel A. Javellana from Negros Occidental equivalent to one
sack of coins money then Dapco came out meaning Davao Abacca Plantation
Company. As usual no political leader recognized by the inhabitants except the
owner of this land there were guards of the plantation to maintain peace and order of
the surroundings and to settle if ever there will be trouble between the workers.
Previously the same they enjoying benefit dance and physical activities but boxing
became better popular sport since it was the pleasure and amusement of Don
Manuel A. Javellana. At this point of time the salary of the tenants increased into Php
3.00 per day and the company established a canteen for the food consumption of the
workers. The forest still shedding the Abacca Plantation and the wild animals also
living within the forests then under the management of Don Manuel A. Javellana the
first elementary school realized this was in year 1960 and happened the first
graduation ceremony in 1966 wherein diplomas received only by 14 students. Upon
arrival of year 1967 Dapco rented by the foreign company called STANFILCO the
banana exporter until year 1977 and at this point of time the image of Dapco
beginning to change due to they cut all the trees in order to plant Cavendish the
variety of banana that made wild animals transferred to other place. There was a
formal facility for the physical activities and the benefit dance really made them
happy and enjoyed because during this time they had already power supply of
electricity for the entire area of Dapco. There was also a Fiesta celebration and the
selection of queen. The salary of the tenants increased as well into Php 4.80 per day
and the canteen still remained so that the human resources may easily get food
consumption. In year 1974 STANFILCO proudly promised to manage Dapco School
and in year 1976 opened the high school department. This is in response of
STANFILCO for the increasing populace of the students due to hiring of workers
coming from different places.

During Barangay Election in year 2002 Mr. Ariston A. Samante Jr. won the election
and presently he was now functioning officially as Barangay Captain. Under his
administration he accomplished projects like the renovation of Barangay Hall,
computer, concrete fence of Barangay Hall, Day Care building, Barangay Health
Station for the health services of the constituents, on going construction for Purok 05
covered court from City 20% Development Fund of 2004 and the construction of
Purok 05 and 06 (Homeland) bridge fund from 2 Congressional Office of
Congressman Antonio "Tony Boy" R. Floirendo Jr.

In the year of December 2007, a new set of Barangay Officials headed by Hon.
Dominador J. Mosa won in the Barangay Elections conducted last October 25, 2007.
On his administration, he accomplished projects like Continuation of Covered Court,
BNS Building and Rehabilitation of Homeland Bailey Bridge which was blessed last
December 23, 2008. The said bridge was funded by the City Mayor Hon. Jose L.
Silvosa Sr. and taken from the City Calamity fund of City Government of Panabo, the
barangay was bless also that the Congressional Office spearheaded by Hon. Anton

F. Lagdameo Jr. made a counterpart for labor and the barangay made a counterpart
of the project. The council made also an effort to do quarterly scraping of roads
through the help and support of all the cooperatives, and of course the incoming
operation of the Water System Project funded by the Office of the Governor Hon.

Hon. Dominador J. Mosa won again for the 20t term in the past barangay elections

Php 10,000.00. In the year of 2020, there has a memorandum of agreement made
by the Barangay Dapco and Asiaflow Corporation. The water system project is soon
to be operated. Farm to Market Road project worth 20M funded by Hon. Jose E.
Relampagos. Another phase will come for the completion of farm to market
road.

In the year 2023, a newly elected Brgy. Officials has been elected under the
administration of Hon. Wilfredo C. Mendio. On his administration, a continuing
project will be finished under 20% Development Fund and new projects will come
out. The City Government of Panabo spearheaded by Hon. Jose E. Relampagos has
funded 2M for the Construction of Health Center Project. Another project was the
installation of box culvert worth 15M located at Prk. 03, Cavendish, Dapco

INTRODUCTION

Dapco is a Barangay and it’s belong to City of Panabo, the province of Davao Del
Norte. In 2020 census Barangay Dapco have a population of 4,199. This represent
2.01% of the total population of the Panabo City.

1 1990 has a 2,007 household then May 2015 has a total of 4,068. That means that
1990 to 2015 there are 887 household was added or an average of 4.59 members

Historical population

The population of Barangay Dapco grew from 2,007 in 1990 to 4,199 in 2020, an
increase of 2,192 people over 30 years. The latest census shows that in 2020 a
positive growth rate of 0.67%, or an increase of 131 people, from the previous
population of 4,068 in 2015.

SULOTION: The Barangay suggests that those who borrowed money should pay it
little by little at the Barangay every month, and the Barangay will give it to the owner.

CAUSE: Those who committed this crime are all minors who are still under the
jurisdiction of their parents.
SULOTION: The Barangay called the parents of those children and the parent
promised that they will guide their children properly and they will not commit it again,
but if they do, they will be send into DSWD. Its all because of lack of discipline of the
parents to their children.

CAUSE: Two adult who are playing basketball that ended up in a fight because the
game got heated.
SULOTION: The Barangay officials summoned those two individuals and suggested
that the victim should get a medical and the person who hit first should pay for it. And
each of them promised that all of this would be settled.

CONCLUSION
This is all the secretary of Barangay Dapco said about how they settled committed
crime that happened in Barangay Dapco. The Barangay Summon is a fundamental
aspect of the Philippine Barangay Justice System, reflecting the country's
commitment to community-based dispute resolution.
