TITLE: TO DESCRIBE THE METHOD FOR OPERATION & CALIBRATION OF VACCUM OVEN
1.0 SCOPE: This test is carried out on all screw & lug type closures ( lined / unlined) for checking leakage

3.1 INTRODUCTION
Elegantly designed , fabricated and tested to suit various application in ever growing field of medical, agriculture
and Industrial Research, for day to day heating, drying, sterilizing, baking etc in laboratories, hospitals and
Industries, under controlled vacuum conditions. This instrument is used to check the leakage testing in
packaging components.
3.2 BENEFITS
The purpose of this test is to evaluate the feasibility of sealing qualities of screw & lug type closures to ensure
product safety over its shelf life.
4.0 PROCEDURE
Operation
4.1 Place the sample with proper closing the cap (filled with coloured water) inside the oven in the vacuum
oven.
4.2 Close the oven door tightly
4.3 Switch on the vaccum oven.
4.4 Open the vacuum knob lying at the top.
4.5 Close the pressure valve down the Indicator.
4.6 Wait till time when the Indicator reach upto 625mm Hg of Vacuum.
4.7 Once Vacuum of 625mm Hg reached, Close the Vacuum Knob.
4.8 Switch off the switches.
4.9 Allow to hold the specified vaccum for 10-15 minutes.
4.10 Release the vacuum through pressure valve to zero reading .
4.11 Open the door & take out the component.
4.12 Close the vaccum oven door.
4.13 Evaluate the sample for leakage if any.
5.0 CALIBRATION
5.1 Pressure gauge & digital temperature indicator shall be calibrated by external agency.
5.2 Calibration frequency: annually.
6.0 PRECAUTION
6.4 Always keep the door closed, and open it only whenever necessary or when not in use.
6.5 Protect the unit from direct sun rays and draughts etc, especially while in use.
7.0 RESPONSIBILITY
7.1 It is the responsibility of the Quality team to ensure that instrument is handled with care in the correct
manner.
