FLOW MEASUREMENT

Installation Requirements
The inside surface of the pipe shall be straight, free from mill scales, pits or
holes, reamer scores or rifling, bumps or other irregularities at least 10D
upstream and 4D downstream of the primary device.
The surface roughness shall not be greater than 0,1°/ of D.
The pipe shall be cylindrical, i.e. no diameter differs from the average diameter D
by more than 0,3°/› upstream and + 3°/ downstream of the primary device.
If boring is necessary to secure this degree of surface roughness and pipe
roundness, such boring should extend for at least a length of 4D upstream and
2D downstream of the primary device. The wall of the bored pipe should join the
unbored pipe wall at an angle of less than 30 degrees. The boring diameter
should be the minimum required to obtain the desired condition, and the boring
should be done after any necessary welding of flanges and pressure
connections.
Location of pressure tappings
Associated tapping shall be in the same horizontal plane.

1.1Reinforcing of branch connections shall be in accordance with limitations

given in the General Piping Specification.
Reinforcing rings” shall conform to the requirements of this specification.
1.2AII welds are to be continuous. Fillet welds to have concave contour.
1.3Backchipping or grouging to sound metal before welding reverse side is
required.
1.4The periphery of the cut hole should be examined for laminations when using
type 1.
1.5WeId details for inclined nozzles are to be similar to the details shown for 90
degree nozzles.
1.6The type must be determined by the frabricator.
Legend
3.1 Thickness of reinforcing ring, to be of the same thickness as header and of equal or
better material. Preferably cut from header.
4.1 Fillet weld leg dimension, equal to T.
4.2.1 Fillet weld leg dimension equal to t.
(a) Width of reinforcing ring, see table. For branch sizes > 36” L = d/2
