ACT 1

SCENE 1

(Praise who is a devout Christian comes up on stage

yawning, she just woke up and was about to start her
morning devotions.)

PRAISE

I give you glory Lord

As I honor you....

I give you glory Lord

As I worship you

You are wonderful

You are worthy O Lord (2x)

(Then she picks her bible to study like two verses and
prays.)

Lord I thank you for today, glory, honour and adoration

be to your holy name, I thank you for all you've been
doing in my life, what you've done and what you are
still going to do, blessed be your holy name.

Father as I go out today, please take perfect control

of my day, help me to please and do your will in all
things, thank you for the answered prayers, in Jesus
mighty name I have prayed. Amen!

Ohh..... Let me start preparing for class.

(As she stood up to get ready for her class, Esther

walks in briskly in exhaustion of her last night
escapade.)
ESTHER

How far Jesus babe?

PRAISE

I’m fine, you didn’t come home last night again, Why
now?

ESTHER

Wetin dey do this babe sef? Dey employ you as my body

guard? Me, I went to flex with my guys ni o.

PRAISE

Esther, I have told you times without number that you

were created to live for God’s glory and not the other
way. Why are you living your life has a tool in the
hand of the devil?

ESTHER

Me? Devil? I don’t have any business with him o.

(Pretends to be innocent of what she meant.)

All I know is that I only have one life and I must live
it to the fullest.

PRAISE

Really? What now happens when that one life ends?

ESTHER

When we get to that bridge, we will cross it. At least,

I still go to church on Sundays when I am not too busy,
so stop acting as if I am a devil’s incarnate.
PRAISE

God did not create us to please ourselves, He created

us to please Him.

ESTHER

Jesus assistant! Please leave me, did God complain to

you? I need to rest jare. I don’t have time for your
bickering this morning.

PRAISE

(Surprised by her actions, she asked)

Are you not going for CSC 312 lecture this morning?

ESTHER

Me and CSC 312 are not in the same category this

morning. Let me do my own thing and CSC 312 do its own.
See, leave and stop disturbing me, remember to greet
the lecturer for me.

PRAISE

Esther, you need to get hold of yourself, you are

becoming unbearable and this kind of lifestyle will
only end you in pain and destruction.

ESTHER

Thank you mama evangelist, at least it’s my life. Let

me live it the way I want. It’s not that you are any
better.

(Esther hissed and walk out of Praise presence

nonchalantly.)
SCENE 2

SUNDAY

(Sunday who does internet fraud comes up on stage with

his singlet and trousers just waking up)

(Yawning).... Ahhh their papa don wake..... Wait wey my

phone dey make I check client wey promise me money
yesterday.

(Then he took his phone)

Wow! I don blow. Their father, for this place I be

their king.

ESTHER

Relax now, wetin happen?

SUNDAY

pompously.)

ESTHER

You be king, you be king

excitement.)

SUNDAY

ESTHER

Oya calm down and tell me wetin happen?

SUNDAY

zolo.

(They both walked out of the stage excitedly.)

ACT 2

Segun was placing his hand on his nose intermittently,
an effect of the hard drugs he took.)

SUNDAY

Segun, dey take am easy o, I don dey tell you say this

SEGUN

Oga, no dey tell me this kind thing.

For this game, you be small boy now. No be introduce

you to this new life wey you dey enjoy now?

SUNDAY

That one na story for the gods.

SEGUN

Your Father. (Stretch his hands towards him in an

abusive manner.)

See this church boy wey I connect, I come still dey

give you client wey dey better your life. Na you dey
tell me wetin I go do with my life.

I imagine say you still dey carry that your bible up

and down, hunger for don kill your glorious destiny

ESTHER

Segun, na you I go thank wey you safe this my bobo for

that in church lifestyle. I for no dey enjoy am the way

SEGUN

You be sure babe now and you suppose enjoy life. You

life forever.

SUNDAY

Segun, you be my helper now. It’s just that you dey get
craze for head small.

SEGUN

(He laughed.)

Your papa.

I don’t know wetin dey do this Christian’s sef. Dey

know no say God way dey tey, na you go make your way
for yourself. If you wait for God, omo na life go
finish you before you enjoy the life sef wey he wan
give you.

Esther

Na wetin I dey tell my roommate wey dey disturb with

Jesus o. But me I no dey gree for her.

Her own papa get money wella and that’s why she get
zeal to serve God but me, my own papa dey chop from
hand to mouth. If I go follow that her Jesus lasan, na
suffer go finish me.

(They all laughed)

SEGUN

Enough of this Jesus or no Jesus story. Make we go out

go flex, money dey to spray around. Na our glorious
life we dey live, make we enjoy am to the fullest.

SUNDAY
Babe, carry that stuff for body so I can sniff small if
we reach where we dey go. Even God know say I got to
enjoy life to the fullest.

SEGUN

Na now you dey talk.

(They were about to walk out when suddenly, Sunday

slumped.)
SCENE 2

(Segun and Esther comes up on stage lamenting and

crying)

SEGUN

No, it is not suppose to be so, how come?

ESTHER

Wahala dey o, so Sunday don die be that?

My bobo don go, just like that. No be wetin you promise

me be this o, you say we go enjoy life together ni ooo,
now you don leave me commot (She wails intently).

(Praise walks in on them.)

PRAISE

Esther, what happen now? Why are you crying profusely

like this? (She rushes to her side.)

ESTHER

My bobo, just die ooo. (She cries)

PRAISE

Died?

How?

When?

SEGUN

He slump when we dey go out, we com rush am to the

hospital. Doctor check com say him lungs don damage as
because of hard drugs. But me sef they the drugs too,
even pass him, how come he is the only one who has lung
failure?
(He cries with pain in his heart.)

PRAISE

Jesus Christ!

This young guy just wasted his glorious destiny because

of the pleasures and riches of this world.

This is what I have always told you guys, our life is a

vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes
away.

Whatever we have in this life are only temporary and it

is a life in God that is eternal.

SEGUN

Don't tell me this is the destruction you are talking

about?

PRAISE

Yes but this is just a part of it. Eternal damnation

awaits the soul of every man who fails to live for
Christ.

SEGUN

(He cries out.)

Ha! I don’t want to be eternally condemned o. what most

I do to be saved?

PRAISE

First and foremost is to surrender your life to Jesus

Christ by confessing Him has your Lord and Saviour,
then you can now build a cordial relationship with Him
through the study of His words, prayers, fasting,
obedience and fellowship with other brethrens.
SEGUN

Ha, Abeg, I am ready o, though I no say I go die one

day but I no wan dey condemned.

ESTHER

(Esther was shocked by his response and shouted)

Pablo! Segun! You want to give your life to Jesus?

SEGUN

Yes o, I don’t want to end in destruction. What did I

gain from the life I have been living? Na fear and
unrest fill my heart every day.

PRAISE

Esther, won’t you surrender your life to Jesus Christ

too?

ESTHER

Me? I am not interested jor.

(She sobs silently while Praise prayed with Segun and

he was over filled with joy. He walked out happily
while Praise and Esther saw him off.)

PRAISE

You just need to join a bible believing church. If you

don’t mind, I can introduce you to my pastor so that he
can tutor you in the ways and will of the Lord.

God has a will and it must be obeyed and followed.

(As they all left the stage.)

ACT 3

SCENE 1

Five years later…

(Segun was seen preaching to a group of adolescent in a

meeting.)

SEGUN

I just told you about my friend Sunday and myself. All

I want you learn from all I have been saying is that
there is a way that seems right to a man but the end is
destruction.

(Esther walks in to the meeting, she was there to pick

up her brother, Caleb. Unknown to her that Caleb was in
a meeting for school students that Segun organize
around schools in the state.)

ESTHER

(Soliloquizing)

I don’t know what this boy his always doing after

school that he will not come home early? How can I come
back from work and still be looking for him all over
the place? This boy should not add to my frustrated
life with this Jesus that he carried on his head.

SEGUN

Just like and hunter, when he wants to capture his

prey, he uses different bait to get the prey.

ESTHER

(Esther was bewildered to see Segun speaking to the

group of students seated in the hall. She echoed his
name, sat quietly while she looks intently at him.)
SEGUN

(Segun didn’t notice her because he was focusing on the

students.)

That’s the same thing the devil does with our lives, we
must not fall victim of these schemes but we can only
stand firm in our faith in God. Praise the Lord!

ALL

Halleluyah!!!

SEGUN

We have come to the end of today’s session. I pray that

God will help and keep you in Jesus name!

ALL

Amen!!! (All the students chorused as they turned, and

waved each other goodbye.)

SEGUN

(He turned aside to praise God for the success of the

meeting while Caleb stood with Esther discussing.)

ESTHER

Who is that person?

CALEB

You mean Mr Segun?

ESTHER

Yes!
CALEB

Well, he is a successful businessman in town and also a

passionate soul winner for Christ. He comes to our
school at least three times a year to organize this
outreach for students.

ESTHER

Really?

CALEB

Yes now. It’s not even our school alone o. He does the
same thing in other schools both in and out of this
town. He has rescued so many students from destroying
their lives which I also am a testimony of his
ministry.

ESTHER

Is he a pastor?

CALEB

No, he is not, though some people call him pastor but

he is just a Christian who is committed to his Father’s
business.

ESTHER

I know him

CALEB

(He looked at her in disbelief.)

ESTHER

We attended the same school and he was my friend.

CALEB

Oh my God! (With a popped out eyes of disbelieve.)

I hope you are not the Esther he narrated in his story?

ESTHER

He told you his story?

CALEB

Yes he did.

ESTHER

Well, I am.

CALEB

I have told you sister before now that you ought to

give your life to Christ and let him heal and rewrite
your ugly past and turn it to a beautiful story like He
is doing with Mr Segun.

ESTHER

(She thinks for a while…)

I would like to meet him.

CALEB

Wow! Let me take you to him then.

(He drags her towards where Mr Segun was standing with

a group of students.)

SEGUN

Segun upon setting his eyes upon her, shouted in

excitement without noticing that Caleb was greeting
him.)
Esther!!! (He called excitedly.)

ESTHER

Segun! (She called sadly.)

SEGUN

(Segun quickly directed the students to his colleague

so as to attend to her. They both move aside to
discuss.)

How as life been with you?

ESTHER

It has been tough but I dey rugged am o.

What about you? I don’t even need to ask, it shows on

you that life has been good to you. Look at how you are
influencing life.

Caleb, my brother speaks highly of you. I can also

attest to the changes that have occurred in his life.
He seems different.

SEGUN

Life has been good though not without its ups and down
but in all God has been faithful.

ESTHER

Ha! I can’t believe this is you. (Clap her hand in

bewilderment.)

Segun! So God can use somebody like you? I can’t

believe my eyes.
SEGUN

Well! God is not a respecter of person. He chooses to

use anyone who aligns with His ways and will. The bible
even tells me that God uses the base things so that he
can confound the wise.

So, what is going on with you?

ESTHER

See I have had my own share of life, it has not been

easy at all and sometimes I feel like just taking my
own life, the suicide thought had been lingering
lately. I have tried to find happiness in so many ways
but all of those things didn’t give me the long lasting
satisfaction that I crave for.

SEGUN

That’s because satisfaction and fulfillment in life

only comes with a life of intimacy with Jesus.

ESTHER

I have done weird things o, will this Jesus be

interested in a filthy person like me?

SEGUN

Esther! If Jesus can take me, who else can He not take?
I introduced you and Sunday to these several evil vices
we practice then ranging from drugs, alcohol,
masturbation, pornography, fraud, sex trafficking, the
list long o.

(He draw a bit closer with all seriousness.)

Look at me Esther, I am nothing, and there is nothing

special about me. You know I have done weird and evil
things more than you have ever and will ever do.
When I surrendered to God, He just decided to place His
most valued treasure (The Holy Spirit) in my rotten
self, so that the excellence of power might be of Him
and not of me.

As I align with him, his power begins to transform my

life and He gradually began to make my life a show of
his glory. If I ever lose my relationship with him,
this glory you see will be gone.

ESTHER

How do I experience this glory? How do I posses this

treasured vessel that makes a life glorious?

SEGUN

It’s simple dear, you were there when I made my own

decision five years ago.

Just say this prayer after me.

(Esther repeats the prayers after Segun.)

Lord Jesus, forgive me of my sins, wash me in your

blood. I confess you as my Lord and Saviour. Put in my
life your most valued treasure and help me live my life
pleasing you in Jesus name. Amen.

(They all left the stage excited. Esther was filled a

new ray of hope and joy of the new life she just
received.)
