Configuring the Media Server in NAS200.

This article will explain to the user about the Media Server and how to configure it. If you use a media adapter to
send content to your entertainment system, then you can use the Network Storage System as a media server.

The Network Storage System can be located by compatible media adapters using the UPnP AV standard. Media
content on the Network Storage System can then be accessed and played by the media adapters.

Step 1:
Configuring the Media Server in NAS200.
Open the Internet Explorer and go to the Network storage's Web Based Set-up Utility. For
instructions, click here(http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&articleid=5006).

Step 2:
Once the set-up page appear, click Administration > Media Server and Enable the Media Server.

Step 3:
Enter the name of the Media Server as it should be displayed on client's devices.

Step 4:
Specify the directories that the media server should scan for media content, the root directory of
each drive will be displayed by default. You can specify up to four directories that the media server
should scan for media content. Select the appropriate check box to select or deselect a directory and

the select file type from the drop down menu.

Step 5:
Once you click Browse, a folder browser screen will appear on the screen. On this screen you can
specify the folder or create a new folder and click Apply.

NOTE: To create a new folder, enter its name, and then click Create. Select the new folder from the
list and its path appears in the Current Folder field.

Step 6:
Once you have specified the directory, you will be on the main screen of the Media server. Specify
the scan behavior of the media server.

Continuous Scan - Select this option if you want the media server to automatically rescan media
files when they change.

Scheduled Scan in "X" Minutes - Select this option if you want the media server to scan media
files at the specified interval. Then enter the number of minutes in each interval.

Scan Now - If you want the media server to scan media files at this time, click this option.

Step 7:
Click Save to save your changes, or click Cancel to clear all changes.
