C) Isometric Drawing (Check points W.R.T Elevation, Orientation & Layout)


1 Line dimensions and elevations at both ends

2 All the valves and handwheel orientation

Where weldolets,sockolets, half coupling, Stub-in tees are used for


3 branch connection,ensure adequate space exists between weld
edge.

4 Accessibility to valves and Instrument

5 Maintainance access for control valves, PSV and actuator of valves

Flow direction for items such as Check valves , strainers is clearly


6
marked.
Check that clearance and space required for in-line instruments
7 items such as control valve actuator, mass flow meter etc.is
available
Check upstream and downstream straight length requirement has
8 been provided for orifice flanges, flow metes, butterfly valves, check
valves etc.

Check straight length requirement for suction & discharge piping for
9
certain pumps
10 Support span to be checked w.r.t Standard support span chart

11 Check connecting nozzle to equipment

D) Bill of material
1 Check that piping material is as per spec
Check material specs are selected correctly where spec break is

marked and inline items of different rating are used.

Check extra bolt length for PSV inlet, Wafer check valves,Butterfly
3 valves, Spectacle blinds, spade and apscers and special items
mounted between flanges.

Check that all holds are clearly identified with clouds or included in

notes on isometrics

E) Drain and vent connections
1 Low points drain are provided in removable spool
Check low point drains with liquid traps, where required, are

provided in plant air lines.
Check high point vents and low point drains have been provided for

lines that will be hydro tested.

F) Additional check points


Check pipe class printed at the bottom of the isometric matches with

that in the line number and that insulation spec.
Check that continuation notes appear on each sheet of multi-sheet
2
isometric.

Check that each item of graphic is an isometric is identified with a

numbered box to ensure it is reported on the MTO side of ISO.

Ensure that isometric prints are readable.If required , the isometric


4
should be split more than one sheet.
Routing checked against structural steel, mechanical, safety, HVAC,
5
electrical and instrument drawings.
6 Dimensions of items as per vendor drawings

Check co-ordinates of the start and end point of Tee ( branch


7 connection) on the header isometric and the branch isometric are
matching, where new isometric starts from a tee branch.
