Presentation series
• The material in the Basic Emergency Care presentation series is for
frontline healthcare professionals.

• The content has been developed from the WHO/ICRC Basic Emergency
Care Course, in collaboration with the WHO Academy.

• The presentation series provides an overview of Basic Emergency Care


principles but does not lead to certification as a Basic Emergency Care
provider.

• For provider BEC certification, please seek out a local face to face course
or take the formal course via the WHO Academy.
The Basic Emergency Care Manual
• The WHO/ICRC Basic Emergency Care manual is the
reference source for the Basic Emergency Care presentation
series.

• The manual contains modules on: The ABCDE Approach, the


Approach to the Patient with Trauma, Difficulty in
Breathing, Shock, Altered Mental Status and
Transfer/Handover.

• Please refer to the manual for further detail including


essential practical skills. There is a specific section on
medications for reference.
