Parenting Teens: Learn How Parenting Teenagers and Young Adults Can Be Simple and Positive and Why You Should Tackle Subjects Surrounding Love, Growth, Sex, Violence and Logic
Every parent's responsibility is to take care of their child.
They have to provide them with food, clothes, education
and things like that. Some people think that a mom's or dad's duty for his/her kid stops when the kid turns 18. Other people think this duty never stops. On the one hand, there are some reasons why some people say that a parent's responsibility for his/her child ends when the child reaches the age of 18. Firstly, by turning 18 children finish school so they start going to university or they can start work which means that they leave their homes and they start taking care of themselves. Secondly, by the age of 18 you become an adult which means you become responsible for some things and you can for example go to jail if you do something stupid and your parents shouldn't be responsible for the stupid things that you do. Thirdly, some parents had to grow up and become adults even before they turned 18 because of some difficult situations like wars so it is only logical for them to expect that their kids will become independent when turning 18. On the other hand, there are some reasons why some people say parent's responsibility for their child never ends. Firstly, just because their kinds grow up it doesn't mean that they stop being their parents so they still have responsibilites but not the same ones that they used to have. Secondly, if they had to start their life at 18, they as parents know how hard it was for them, so they don't want their kinds to stuggle like they did. Lastly, regardless the struggle you have to go through to become independent, we all need help from time to time, and no one knows us better than our parents. To conclude, as it was already mentioned, there are both reasons why parent's responsibility ends when child turns 18 and why it doesn't such as it being neccessary to truly become independent and also not being able to ajdust to taking care of everything so suddenly without your parent's help. I think that parents should always have a small dose of responsibility and care for their child, but of course kids have to live independetly.
