IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH
Research is an invaluable asset that
permeates every aspect of our
daily lives. Its importance cannot
be overstated, as it fuels progress,
drives innovation, and shapes the
world we live in.
IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH
From expanding human
knowledge to driving scientific
discoveries, enhancing medical
innovations, informing public
policy, and fostering economic
growth, research plays a vital role
in society.
IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH
Research empowers us to tackle social
issues, strengthen decision making,
improve education, and inspire critical
thinking.
It encourages us to think creatively and
innovatively, pushing the boundaries of
what is possible. By engaging with
research, we become active participants
in the pursuit of knowledge and agents of
positive change.

Types of
Research?

Qualitative Quantitative
Qualitative Research
a process of naturalistic inquiry that
seeks an in-depth understanding of
social phenomena within their natural
setting. It focuses on the "why" rather
than the "what" of social phenomena
and relies on the direct experiences of
human beings as meaning-making
agents in their every day lives.
Quantitative Research

a process of collecting and analyzing

numerical data. It can be used to find
patterns and averages, make
predictions, test causal relationships,
and generalize results to wider
populations.
TYPES OF RESEARCH
QUALITATIVE RESEARCH QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
• The aim is a complete detailed • The aim is to classify features, count
description them, and construct statistical models in
an attempt to explain what is observed
• Researcher may only know • The researcher already knows what
roughly in advance what he/she is searching for
he/she looking for
• All aspects of the study are carefully
• The design emerges as the designed before data is collected
study unfolds • Researcher uses tools to collect
numerical data
• Researcher is the data-
gathering instrument
• Data is in form of number and statistics
• Data is in form of words, picture
or object • Objective
• Subjective
TYPES OF RESEARCH
QUALITATIVE RESEARCH QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
• Time consuming and • More efficient, able to test
less to be able to hypotheses, but may miss
generalized contextual detail
• Researcher tends to • Researcher tends to remain
become subjectively objectively separated from
immersed in the the subject matter
subject matter • Start with hypothesis
• End with hypothesis • Deductive
• Inductive • Predictive
• Interpretative
