Theoretically, the King could refuse the royal assent to a bill passed by
Parliament. It means that the King has the right to stop it from becoming law.
Since 1708, no monarch has refused the royal assent to a bill passed by
Parliament. Therefore, royal assent is automatic.

3. Conclusion, Recommendations
3.1 Conclusion
In conclusion, the reality of the monarchy encompasses a nuanced
understanding of its historical significance, contemporary role, and societal
impact. While monarchies vary in their structures and levels of power, they often
serve as symbols of tradition and continuity. In modern constitutional monarchies
like the United Kingdom, their role is largely ceremonial, yet their symbolic
importance in unifying and representing the nation remains significant. Beyond
symbolism, monarchies influence various aspects of society, including
economics, diplomacy, and culture. Despite debates regarding their relevance,
monarchies endure, reflecting deep-rooted attachments to tradition and heritage.
Therefore, grasping the reality of the monarchy necessitates a comprehensive
examination of historical contexts, contemporary political dynamics, and societal
perceptions, underscoring its ongoing significance in the modern world.
