7 DAYS CHALLENGE

Day-3(subjective test)

Chemistry
Chemical Reactions and Equations
Class- X
(Session – 2024-25)

General Instructions:
(i) This question paper consists of 5 questions.
(ii) All questions are compulsory.

Q. 1. (a) Solution of a substance ‘X’ is used for testing carbon dioxide. Write
the equation of the reaction of ‘X’ with carbon dioxide.
(b) How is ‘X’ obtained? Write chemical equation.

Q. 2. Define a chemical reaction. State four observations which help us to

determine that a chemical reaction has taken place. Write one example of
each observation with a balanced chemical equation.

Q. 3. Decomposition reactions require energy either in the form of heat or

light or electricity for breaking down the reactants. Write one equation
each for decomposition reactions where energy is supplied in the form of
heat, light and electricity.

Q. 4. Write the balanced chemical equations for the following reactions:

(a) Sodium carbonate on reaction with hydrochloric acid in equal molar concentrations
gives sodium chloride and sodium hydrogen carbonate.
(b) Sodium hydrogen carbonate on reaction with hydrochloric acid gives sodium
chloride, water and liberates carbon dioxide.
(c) On treatment with potassium iodide, copper sulphate precipitates cuprous iodide
(Cu2I2), liberates iodine gas and forms potassium sulphate.

Q. 5. Why do we store silver chloride in dark-coloured bottles?
