crucial to maintain a balance of both good and bad news.

On the one hand, it is easy to see why people are proposing that more positive news needs to
be published on the media.

When we read about good things, even if they are unrelated to our lives, it instantly lifts our
moods and could potentially lead to positive outcomes on a broader scale.

For instance, learning that the economy is recovering/ in an upswing could help people become
optimistic about their career, and reading about good deeds could inspire people to be of
service to others.

These doses of inspiration and positivity are obviously important to maintaining a healthy and
productive population.

On the other hand, notwithstanding the salutary effects of good news, I think the media should
also provide coverage of bad news also.

Everyday new problems arise around the world and they must be brought to the attention of
the public.

For instance, citizens must be aware of terrorist attacks, as tragic as these stories may be, in
order to condemn the heinous crimes of terrorist groups and push for more drastic actions in
the future.

If bad news were omitted from the media, problems like terrorism would still persist, which
could put people’s lives at risk.
III. Conclusion
In conclusion, while listening to good news may be beneficial for society, I believe the media
must not neglect the negativity and injustice that go on every day.
