Introduction

By default, Infinity uses Leica Relative antennas calibration set, which are the same used on board by Leica
receiver. However, the user may import data collected with third party antennas which are not part of
Leica calibration set. In this case, additional actions may be required by the user, as for example selecting
another Calibration set before processing.

First, this tutorial shows where to visualize antennas properties belonging to the project. Then you learn
how to manage Antennas Calibration Set, as well as interpret and solve possible Antenna Warning
messages.

Three different processing examples, which cover the most common use cases, are presented.

The functionality discussed in this guide requires the GNSS Processing license.

The data from the following folders will be used in this tutorial:
• Data\ contains GNSS raw data collected with different types of antennas.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 2

1. Import GNSS data collected with different types of Antenna

1.1 Start Infinity and create a new

project. From Home tab in the ribbon
bar select Import.

You are going to import raw

data collected with Leica and
third party antennas. At the
end of this tutorial you will
know how to process the
GNSS data applying the correct
calibration values to all the
antennas.
1.2 In the Import dialog navigate to Data
directory. Select all RINEX files and
click Import.

Use Control+All or Shift to

select all files.

2. View imported data

2.1 In the data Inspector select the GNSS
tab.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 3

2.2 To visualise the Antenna Name
column, move the horizontal bar at
the bottom left panel.
Four different Antenna types
are available in the project:
- GPPNULLANTENNA
- LEIAR10
- LEIAX1202GG
- AOAD/M_T

The antenna information can

be also visualised in the
Property Grid after selecting
the interval.

3. View the antennas in the project’s GNSS Manager

3.1 In the Processing tab, select GNSS

Manager.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 4

3.2 In the GNSS Manager, choose the
Antenna/Calibration Set tab.

Different Calibration set

containing the imported
antennas are available in the
project.

Before importing the data, no

antennas were available in the
project. At import antennas
are automatically copied from
the backstage into the project.
3.3 To visualise the antennas included in
each set, click on the black arrows on
the left side of each calibration set.

Not all antennas are

included in every
calibration set. For
example:
- the antenna AOAD/M_D is
not part of Geo++ GmbH
Absolute, but it is part of
NGS Absolute
- the antenna
GPPNULLANTENNA is part
of Geo++ GmbH Absolute,
but it is not part of NGS
Absolute

3.4 To visualize the antenna correction

values, highlight an antenna and
select the info button from the
Property grid.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 5

Switch within PCV and Plot
tab to visualise either
numerical values or the
graphical representation of
the antenna correction
values.

3.5 Select Cancel to close the Additional

Corrections window and then Close
the GNSS Manager.

4. 1st Processing example: select the most suitable calibration set for
data processing
4.1 Highlight the ‘HEE0’ interval and set it
as Reference, by selecting Set
Reference from the Processing ribbon
bar.
Then, highlight the ‘WIDN’ and
‘Example_AOAD/M_T’ intervals and set
them as Rovers, by selecting Set
Rover from the Processing ribbon bar.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 6

4.2 Select Process without changing any
setting.
Leica Relative calibration
set is used in the
processing by default.

A Warning message
informs that the antenna
AOAD/M_T is not part of
the selected calibration set
Leica Relative. Select
Cancel to close the
message without
processing the data.

To interpret the warning,

open the GNSS Manager
and expand the Leica
Relative calibrations set.
The antenna AOAD/M_T is
not part of it. Instead, this
antenna is part of the NGS
Absolute calibration set,
together with the other
antennas required for the
processing (LEIAR10 and
LEIAX1202GG).
Close the GNSS Manager.

4.3 From the Processing ribbon bar

change the calibration set from Leica
Relative to NGS Absolute.

You can also change the

calibration set to NGS 14
Absolute

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 7

4.4 Process the data again.

No warning message appears:

all the considered antennas
belong to the NGS Absolute
calibration set.

5. 2nd Processing example: create a New user defined Calibration Set

5.1 Using the button in the ribbon bar set

‘Example_NULLANTENNA’ as Rover.
Keep the other intervals as specified
in the previous session.

You are going to process

dataset whose antennas do
not belong by default to a
unique calibration set.
By creating a new user defined
calibration set you will manage
to process the data applying
the correct calibration values
to all the antennas.
An alternative method (adding
an existing antenna to an
existing calibration set) is
described in Session 6 of this
tutorial.

5.2 Process the data using NGS Absolute

calibration set.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 8

A warning informs that the
antenna GPPNULLANTENNA is
not part of the NGS calibration
set. Select Cancel to close the
message without processing
the data.

Use the GNSS Manager to

verify the warning message.
Note that the
GPPNULLANTENNA is listed
under other calibration sets.

5.3 Open the GNSS Manager from the

Processing Ribbon bar and expand
Leica Absolute and NGS absolute
calibration set.
Select GPPNULLANTENNA from Leica
Absolute; select LEIAX1202GG,
LEIAR10, AOAD/M_T from NGS
Absolute.

Use Control to perform the

multi-selection.

5.4 To create a new calibration set

containing the highlighted antennas,
select New Calibration Set from the
GNSS Manager Ribbon bar.

A new tab called New

Calibration Set opens on
the right side of the GNSS
Manager.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 9

To create a new calibration
set you can also use right-
mouse click on the
highlighted antennas. From
the context menu select
Add to Calibration Set and
then New Calibration set.

Note that the button New

Calibration Set is not
enabled if the user tries to
combine antennas from
relative and absolute
calibration set because this
is not a correct processing
approach.

5.5 Enter a name (e.g. ‘Tutorial’) and a

description (e.g. ‘Contains all
antennas used in the tutorial’) for the
new calibration set. Then select
Create.

A new calibration set

named Tutorial Absolute
has been created. It
contains all the antennas
needed for the processing.
Close the GNSS Manager.

Leica Infinity, How to Manage Antenna Calibration Set 10

5.6 In the Processing ribbon bar, change
the calibration set to Tutorial
Absolute.

5.7 Process the data using the calibration

set Tutorial Absolute.

No warning message
appears because all the
antennas considered in the
processing are now part of
the same calibration set
Tutorial Absolute.

6. 3rd processing example: add an existing Antenna to an existing

Calibration Set

6.1 In the data Inspector select the GNSS

tab.

You are going to process

different dataset whose
antennas do not belong by
default to a unique calibration
set.
By adding an existing Antenna
to an existing calibration set
you will manage to process the
data applying the correct
calibration values to all the
antennas.
