2.0 Pre-Requisites:
This system is an automated system and all actions for the release of Gas to suppress fire are
automatic
The signal generated will activate the pilot cylinders and the respective zone’s
2 Auto
solenoid valve at the solenoid manifold.
Each Solenoid valve operates through the electronic signal generated and
3 Auto
Supplies gas to two locations
Pilot cylinder Gas operates the mechanical delay switch mechanism which
4 releases the Inergen gas from different cylinder racks through a main/reserve Auto
switch box.
5 Electrical Delay switch operates from signal generated from FMZ-5000 Auto
6 When the Main cylinders are being consumed and there is need of more FO
firefighting the only manual action is done to release the reserve cylinders by
operating the valve position from main to reserve.
As the mechanical and electrical delay switches operate the device holding the
7 Auto
weight (hammer) gets loose and the hammer falls down.
As the hammer falls down, the assembly attached to the hammer moves and
8 opens the valves of all the Inergen gas cylinders causing the gas to release and Auto
move into their respective pipework towards the intended zone.
9 Pilot Cylinder gas also opens the DN-50 valve of respective zone. Auto
Manual release button is also facilitated in case auto system fails to activate.
10 Manual release button of respective area is pushed to activate the sequence SM/FO
manually.
Manual hold and abort push button is also facilitated to hold the release of gas
11 in case any evacuation is required and also aborting the sequence when SM/FO
required.
Lock the mechanical delay switch of respective zones main and reserve bottles
5 FO
to avoid release of hammer (Optional)
NOTE At Fatima Energy a single Inergen System serves all the areas so isolating a
zone by simply putting the selector switch into manual mode is not a desirable
solution as Inergen system can still be activated by pushing the release
button. Removing the ferrule and inserting pin of the respected zone solenoid

release of hammer (Optional)
De-isolation of System
Ensure before taking the system in service that all alarms in CCR and at local

panel are reset.
2 Remove the locks from the mechanical delay switches. FO
3 In case any solenoid valve was active, reset it by using the special resetting tool. FO
