Film Favourites from All Star Films by Thom Goddard They say the early bird catches the

worm. That is probably because get down to the cinema sooner rather than later to see the best films doesnt have the same ring to it. This month there is a bit of everything on the big screen with horror, romance, sci-fi and childrens films available. Enjoy! Released: 2nd September - 500 Days of Summer - 4 stars This movie is fun, frustrating, simple, difficult, triumphant and depressing, just like any loving relationship. It is a simple story of boy meets girl, girl meets boy, boy loves girl, girl doesn't love boy because her divorced parents destroyed the very idea of true love sending the boy into a downward spiral of sorrow and recklessness. Director Marc Webbs feature film debut is an artistic and entertaining treat. 4th September - District 9 - 4 stars An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent who is exposed to their biotechnology. The film starts out as a mockumentary and thinly veiled social commentary, then delves into more mainstream thriller territory, before culminating in some spectacular action set pieces. This film is dazzlingly original science fiction with heartfelt and evocative scenes and is just a wonderfully deep and structured film. 11th September - Miss March - 1 star Eugene awakens from a coma after four years to find the love of his life, Cindi, is now a sexy centerfold model and resides in the Playboy Mansion. He travels to Hollywood with best buddy Tucker to win her back, after failing to take her virginity on Prom Night. I had to give you the plot as there is little else to say about this filmd. It is very poor and probably the least funny comedy I have ever endured. 25th September - Case 39 - 2 stars Emily Jenkins (Rene Zellweger) is a social worker who fights to save a young girl named Lillith Sullivan from her abusive parents, only to discover that the situation is more dangerous than she ever expected. This film is trying desperately to be The Omen or The Grudge but fails as the shocks are few and far between, and only delivered by quick editing and loud noises. DVDs to please There are some classic DVDs and Blu-Rays released this month and we see the first big blockbusters of 2009 hit the shelves. The 11 out of 10 Spinal Tap - Limited Marshall Amp Edition (7th September Blu-Ray and DVD rrp: 69.99) has the DVD and Blu-Ray together, plus a working Marshall amp. Film-making at its best arrives with The Big Blue (14th September on Blu-Ray rrp: 24.99). The big hitters this month are the global phenomenon Hannah Montana: The Movie (7th September on DVD rrp: 17.99 and Blu-Ray rrp: 23.99) and the monster hit Angels and Demons (14th September on DVD rrp: 19.99 and Blu-Ray rrp: 24.99).
