Marlon Andres Vera Delgado was born in Chone, Manabi, on December 2, 1992, also known as

Chito Vera, is a 31 year old Ecuadorian fighter who has excelled in mixed martial arts, at age 16
he began his mixed martial arts training, with which he also learned techniques of jiu-jitsu,
boxing.

Mixed martial arts career

A year later, in 2010, he had his first professional bout in the city of Quito, winning the event.
In 2011 he fought in Quito against international opponents from Peru and Colombia, which he
defeated.

In 2013 he was invited to the Panama Fight League event by managers who saw videos of
Vera's fights on the internet, and won a mixed martial arts championship at that event.

The Ultimate Fighter Latinoamérica"

In 2014, after a long preparation and having applied as a candidate for the acclaimed UFC
reality show "The Ultimate Fighter" in its Latin American version, Marlon Vera was included in
the show as part of Team Werdum (Latin America) to face Team Velásquez (Mexico). Marlon
Vera made his appearance in the sixth episode of the show, where he faced the experienced
fighter Henry "Bure" Briones. After an intense fight, Marlon Vera managed to knock out
Briones, securing his spot in the tournament's semifinals. However, Vera couldn't participate in
his next fight against Alejandro "Diablito" Pérez due to a skin problem, and he was replaced by
Guido Cannetti.

Vera made his official debut against his partner Marco Beltrán on November 15, 2014. He lost
the fight by decision. 2015 In his next fight, Vera faced Roman Salazar on August 8, 2015. He
won the fight by submission in the second round.8 This victory earned him his first
Performance of the Night award. 2016 Vera faced Ning Guangyou on November 27, 2016. He
won the fight by decision.

2017

Vera replaced an injured Henry Briones to face Brad Pickett on March 18, 2017, at UFC Fight
Night 107. Due to the short notice and preparation for Vera, the fight was contested at a
weight of 140 lbs. He won the fight via TKO in the third round. This victory earned him his
second Performance of the Night award.

2018

Vera faced Wuliji Buren on August 8, 2018, at UFC 227. He won the fight via TKO in the second
round.

2020

Vera faced Sean O'Malley on August 15, 2020, at UFC 252.27. He won the fight via TKO in the
first round.

Marlon had a rematch against Davey Grant on June 19, 2021, at UFC on ESPN. He won the fight
by way of unanimous decision. This bout earned him his second Fight of the Night award.

Vera faced Frankie Edgar on November 6, 2021, at UFC 268. He won the fight by KO in the
third round. This victory earned him his fourth Performance of the Night award.

In 2022,
Vera faced Rob Font on April 30, 2022, at UFC on ESPN. He won the fight by unanimous
decision. This bout earned him his third Fight of the Night award.

Vera faced Dominick Cruz on August 13, 2022, at UFC on ESPN. He won the fight by KO in the
fourth round. This victory earned him his fifth Performance of the Night award.

2023

Vera was scheduled to face Cory Sandhagen on February 18, at UFC Fight Night. However, the
fight was moved to March 25, at UFC on ESPN for undisclosed reasons. He lost the fight by split
decision.

2024: Opportunity for the UFC World Bantamweight Championship

Vera faced Sean O'Malley in a rematch for the UFC World Bantamweight Championship on
March 9. He lost the fight by unanimous decision.

Personal life

He married Ecuadorian María Paulina Escobar in 2012.

Vera and his wife have two daughters, Ana Paula and Eliana, and a son named José Ignacio.

In 2017, Vera signed an advertising contract with Pepsi, to appear on billboards throughout
Ecuador.
