Purified Water Generation and Distribution System:

Scope:
To cover the requirements to be met by the PW GENERATION and Distribution system
consisting of individual section/ treatment units and its functional accessories along with its
associated piping & control system. The scope of this system shall be limited to design/
supply/ installation/ commissioning/validation (IQ & OQ) and handover of the following
constituents of the system within the room:
• Systems and Accessories
• Necessary Instruments of the System
• Necessary Piping of the System
• Necessary Control system of the System

The complete system shall be designed as per current relevant standards,agreed technical
specification and User requirement specifications to comply with the clients requirement.

Technical specifications of all the equipment, instruments, valves etc. are as per the offer, the
Purchase Order, and the client’s Requirements.

Training on the system to be provided to operation staffs those are involved in water system
The requirement of Purified water would be fulfilled as per regulatory norms of
USP/BP/IP/EU
Colour : Colourless
Appearance : Clear, Odourless
pH : 5 – 7
Conductivity : < 1.3 µS / cm @ 25 °C
TOC : < 500 ppb
Microbial Count : NMT 100cfu/ml
E. Coli : Absent
Pseudomonas Aeruginosa : Absent
Salmonella species : Absent
Staphylococcus Aureus : Absent
Following Shall be considered as the basis of complete design:
1. Chemical sanitisable RO1-68% recovery
2. Hot water sanitisable RO2-81% recovery
3. Hot water Sanitisable EDI-82% recovery
4. UV disinfectant-100% recovery

Shall have following components:


1. Pressure sand filter-to remove suspended visible particles
2. Water softening plant-to remove the hardness of feed water
3. Reverse osmosis-1-to bring TDS and conductivity
4. Reverse osmosis2-To bring down TDS and conductivity to acceptable limit
5. EDI Unit- to bring TDS and conductivity to Purified water specification
6. UV disinfectant
7. Loop distribution system -to supply PW to user points and remove bio film

Operation and Maintenance:
1. Purified water system can be run in Auto and manual mode.
2. Check & ensure that all dosing chemical solutions are prepared in respective tanksCheck
and Set the dosing of Sodium Hypochlorite before raw water storage tank, It Shall be
22% stroke at Dosing pump.Raw water storage tank solenoid valve operates with level sensor
and NaOCl dosing pump will start when solenoid valve gets open.Check the value of
chlorine at sampling point , it shall be in between 1 to 3 PPM.Select and set the pre-treatment
section in Auto mode from the form HMI.Ensure that Multi port valve of Pressure sand filter
shall be in Service Mode (Filtration) & Inlet / Outlet Valve of respective pumps shall be
in open position.Switch On the PSF Inlet pump & maintain the flow to through flow
meter.Check the inlet / outlet Water Pressure of PSF . The DP between Inlet & Outlet shall
not be more than 0.3 Kg/Cm2.Backwash is required once in a day or in case the DP across
Inlet / Outlet increases more than 0.3 Kg/Cm2.Ensure that Multi-port valve of Water softener
plant shall be in Service Mode (Filtration) & Inlet / Outlet Valve of respective pumps
shall be in open position.
3. Switch On the softener plant Inlet pump & maintain the flow to through flow meter.
4. Check the inlet / outlet Water Pressure of softener . The DP between Inlet & Outlet shall
not be more than 0.3 Kg/Cm2.
5. Backwash is required once in a day or in case the DP across Inlet / Outlet increases more
than 0.3 Kg/Cm2.
6. Regenerate the resin by using Sodium chloride solution once in a week by positioning
the multi port valve to regenerate position.Switch On SMBS doser pump, Anti Scalant
doser pump and pH doser pump.
7. Switch On the RO feed pump and ensure correct quantity of dosing of SMBS,Anti
scalant and Sodium Hydroxide is dosed by checking the ORP and pH on the display
panel.
8. Ensure 5 Micron filter is clear and not clogged by checking the pressure of the
Pressure gauge.
9. Feed water to RO 1 shall have pH of 5-8 and ORP less than 300mV.
10. Collect the RO1permeate in RO collection tank and check for physical parameter.
11. Switch On RO2 feed pump and ensure proper flow of water through RO2 membrane
and EDI unit by ascertaining the flow rate on respective rota meter .
12. Check the intensity of UV light from the display unit.
13. The outlet water from EDI is passed through UV before getting collected Purified
water Tank
14. Switch On the loop system and maintain the flow at 1.2 m/s through distribution pipe.
15. Perform sanitisation once in 15 days using hot water at 85℃.

Preventive Maintenance:

1. Maintaining of Resin integrity by daily regeneration of resin in water softener plant using
Sodium hydroxide solution
2. RO membrane regeneration using CIP when water quality incursion identified
3. System sanitisation as per validated frequency to prevent bio film
4. Maintain flow rate in distribution unit to prevent bio film.
5. Check the condition of Oil seal, fan blade alignment, shaft movement,voltage consumed
and smooth movement of rotor in stator in all motor once in 3 months.
6. Lubricate the Motor components by addition of grease using grease pump.
7. Check the motor for any abnormal noise or rotation.
8. Check all the pipe joints for any leakages.
